I’m not a die cast collector like some of y’all but I thought this one was pretty neat!

Has Rolling Bone's all over it...…………………till I looked at the wheels & tires! The art work on the package wheels & tires are different than on the model.

  9. There is also a chopped and channeled 35/36 truck in their collection. It's fenderless, no hood sides that reveal a flathed, and the suspension detail is spot on. Another neat one they recently released is the "SoCalPlating" coupe, but they don't call it that.

These are all little dynamics that keep the dream alive. What we do here at the Hamb helps fuel the movement and it's certainly a force amongst the Newer trends...good to see really...

Matchbox cars is how I got started. I didn't need the hot rod versions back in the early 60's to start the fire.

Cool. Here's to hoping it'll inspire at least a few of our youngest generation to fall in love with old cars/Hot Rods!
Hot Wheels got me started back in '68 along with model cars.

  15. I talked with a guy at Hershey one year that had been an engineer for General Motors for years. he quit and went to work for matchbox designing cars. I asked hi if that was a "step up" and he replied; "at GM I designed lots of parts for cars, at Matchbox I get to design the whole thing" he was a real car guy, I wish I remembered his name, I wonder if it was him that designed those.?

you may be thinking of Harry Bradley. It’s actually Hot Wheels. He did the first year, the first 16 actually.

  17. It’s nice to be the only Matchbox Die Cast Designer and the lead for Matchbox. I get to do my car or cars.
Thanks for the nice words. I try to keep the peace with Marketeers and Management. I have to balance the line with all genres of vehicles. Not just Hotrods., everything. It is what Matchbox is about. All vehicles in small scale.
We are not part of the Hot Wheels divisions. We are all under the Wheels group at Mattel.
I might as well put a plug for @matchboxworld on Instagram. I also have to run that.

There are less posts recently but check it out. Still busy, busy. More HAMB friend vintage and Classic cars coming in the future.

  26. Way cool! Neat to see that companies like this are true members of the community. Thanks for representing our little niche world!

  27. Sometimes you have to make do with the wheels available to you. These are 1-2 dollar kids toys at the end of the day. More good stuff coming. Work has not gotten easier lately either.

Any plans to make INDY 500 cars? Sure would be nice to have a full field from every year 1911-1965. :) Have your cars ever been featured on "How Things are Made"? Must be something to kick out all that stuff and make a buck.
