I was out running some errands yesterday. When I came out of the one of the stores I just had to take a picture of my 41 Ford pu. It looked so little in the sea of todays cars. Even the Mustang looks big! Anyway I took a picture and here it is. PS: I worked in the building I was in back in 1972-1976. High school and a couple of years after. It was called "David's". It was a completely different store but damn if I'm not getting old. I used to park my hot rodded 69 Camaro in an adjacent field back then. There's a CVS store there now. I used to have to put my Camaro in gear and bump it a little to get the starter to catch. Broken teeth on the flywheel. LOL! God I've come a long way and yet I haven't. little.jpg

    Hey B4U,

What a great photo for this time of the year. What a contrast! We lived in the Westside of Long Beach and our street was lined with Jacarandas. It was part of what the local papers said were "6,799 Jacaranda Trees in Long Beach." In our neighborhood, every house had two Jacaranda Trees in the sidewalk median. We had to tell our friends not to park there, but in the driveway, when visiting us during the season. The purple flowers as nice as they are, create a mess on the paint jobs if left too long.

As a teen, it was my job to go outside and rake up all of the purple flowers that had dropped on the green grass area. It was like wiping off a windshield during a sprinkle day. (Wipe off and more water appears.) The Jacaranda trees are notorious for dropping the purple stuff. Rake up several piles and the rest of the grass has more purple stuff. Later in 1984, when the song "Purple Rain" came out, my brother and I laughed and said it was the theme song for Long Beach and the Jacarandas.

Don't park too long under those wonderful looking trees. Nice truck...
