Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by tb33anda3rd, May 8, 2020.

  1. a few of us had a little parade of cars through some local nursing homes and senior centers and condo complexes. although not allowed to come out side they waved and gave thumbs up through the windows. it was nice to get out with the cars. 4. That 30 roadster is screaming to be a hot rod. I can help with that. Who owns it? Maybe I can make the next one, looks like something good to do!

Good for you guys, good for them. I imagine some of the nursing home residents were reminiscing about their old cars from decades passed and sharing stories.

  15. even when the pandemic this over, it would/should be something done periodically.

  16. the kid who organized this was contacted by the head of one of the nursing homes and thanked us for taking the time. it was a big hit with the residence. he was also contacted by some of the family members, one in tears telling the story of his wife remembering the event days later. she remembers very little day to day. it struck a cord.

  18. My Mom is in a local nursing home with Alzheimers. I've gone to visit her taking my 33 and drove it by the entrance. The reaction of some of the residents was awesome. I'm glad you guys are doing your shows for them. It really brings a smile to their faces.

    Thank you!!!

We know that all of us here on the HAMB... and others like us... often enjoy a bit of the past. Old cars, old music and stuff.
    And we're grateful for it.

But we also I know that many of the elderly who are basically stuck in one place, are STARVING for just a little something to remind them of how their world was.

We long for the way things were.
Imagine how it is for them.

    This was really good, 33.

  24. we found out that the nursing homes had stopped all of the events and entertainment for the last two months along with no visitors/family. this was one of the only "events" they have had.

  25. That is true. We haven't been able to visit my Mom at the nursing home she is in since early March.

After caring for my Mom and my father-in-law in assisted living/nursing homes; I know that the patients really appreciate events like this. Thank you. And BTW your '33 Chevy is a very cool hot rod!
