Technical 1933-34 Ford Firewall Setback Pictures

I have a 33 Coupe I need to set the firewall back about 2". I would like to make it look as close to Genie as possible. I have a couple of ideas but thought I would ask other members here what they have done. Any help would be appreciated.

I used a 36 ford truck firewall. Its a little reshaped at the horizontal bends. I also recessed the center even more but my engine is set back and it's an 8ba with the 8rt front stuff so its a long set-up with mechanical fan. Not the neatest work on my car but it certainly could be done neatly. I'll try to find a closer picture

Here is mine setback 2 3/4".

 

My buddy Mike's 3 window. Made the factory indentation 3/4" deeper. The ridge the floorboard tucks into is stock, cant see it in the photo but it runs straight across right about at the base of the distributor. And to the naysayers, yes he can get distributor out without yarding the motor forward.

My firewall that we moved back 2.5 inches and reprofiled the cowl sides
im running a hamonic balancer on my new stroker engine and a McCulloch supercharger so needed some room up front of the 8ba.

'37-'39 trucks had the shallower offset in the firewalls... but had a battery box factory...

 

Another one looks to be nicely done.

 

My solution for getting my 331 shoehorned in.

 

I didn't worry about losing a little extra in a sedan. 4 inches.

Lots of great input here guys thanks. Here is what I started with. The PO did this I cut it out and patched it with a original piece. Figured I would patch first before removing the firewall and setting it back. I'm running a Cadillac 390 so I can't just notch the back for the distributor. I think I can get away with 2-1/2" I have a 40 firewall I am going to use the angled section of and then the upright on my original. I really like how Monster Kid & Hotrod Grille did theirs. Here are a few pics.

Finished up the majority, just need to work on the toe board and weld up the holes.

 

Love what you did with the canister in the firewall!

 

Engine was set back 11 inches to clear blower drive....Removed all the factory firewall and moved everything back 11 inches in my sedan....Also wanted to be able to remove the valve covers to adjust the valves being a solid roller lifter cam...

 

Did an 11” setback really cramp the floorspace on the inside? I also have a sedan, so curious about this. Seems with a sedan it wouldn’t be an issue because you could just set the seats further back. Your setback came out looking really clean by pulling the entire firewall back, and not just notching it like most builds. Nice work!

Went 8" to make the Rocket a little more comfortable

 

With such large set backs don't you run out of leg room in a hurry? Or is everyone 5'4"?

I realize you can move the seat back but the toe board angle must be gone.
