History Stacked up like stove wood!

I just ran across this photo which looks vintage and know images can be manipulated and I highly doubt Henry would have ever stacked them up like this.

With a solid hood in place and what appears to be wiring for the headlights routed through the frame rail the image must be current.

I sure wouldn't mind these 8 roadsters being stacked up in my garage.

Anyone know the story behind this photo? HRP

 

That photo has circulated here before. Something to do with stock of current aftermarket company if I remember correctly.

 

Johnny is correct. I can't remember the particulars, but I am sure someone will jump in with the details. It seems to me the original picture I saw was in color...

 

Yeah, those welded square tube frames don't look like something from '32 nor do the the louverless hood panels.

Correct and the photo in this thread is doctored to look old. Original photo is current and colored.

Henry didn't have any brake hoses running from the frame in 32.

 

I think that this was covered before here, it was listed as the stockroom from Speedway out in NEBR.

 

Just goes to show you, there is nothing posted on the hamb that hasn't been discussed in the past. HRP

 

No trim on the top of the grill shells either.

I would think original. I doubt any modern frame reproducer would build such volume. Also the lighting
in the building does not look modern?

Yeah, Ford didn't introduce hydraulic brakes until 1939, we are so use to seeing them on all the early Fords that we seem to forget these cars came equipped with mechanical brakes. HRP

 

The speedway 32 I believe was assembled in South Africa

It was reported at the time that these were manufactured in South Africa. Never heard much about the company that did them. They were delivered to Speedway painted red with upholstery ready for the engine of your choice. edit: I type slow

The heavy caster wheels on the cart in the background of the second picture look as if they could be 30's industrial.

 

Yes that is correct it was assembled in South Africa

 

The rear crossmember is the give away to me as to what era the 32 frames are . I’m not sure but I don’t think anyone makes a repo crossmember like that one pictured

Regarding South Africa car firms. The Superformance
Cobra replica comes from there. It is acknowledged among Cobra guys as the finest Cobra replica ever
built. Carol Shelby stated that if he would have had
that Chassis during the Cobra racing days, No one
would have beat it. Shelby thought it was an outstanding piece. If Superformance built those 32s
for Speedway they may be very good quality. If Speedway specified lesser quality to reflect lesser price
that may be a factor as well.

 

Wonder how many of them still sit in the warehouse at Speedway. They wanted to buy Zipper motors at one time as well.

 

the frame picture is most likely old. look at the volume of finished frames. 10 (?)stacks of 7. that would be a lot of frames, plus they are painted. then we add in the vintage light fixtures and the heavy cast wheels on the cart in the background.
