I am looking for info on a trustworthy company or individual for auto transport that has reasonable rates. I have tried Uship, but not sure about the shippers.

I need a vehicle hauled from Ohio to Wisconsin.

Guys in the HAMB-o-dex. I can personally vouch that Bill's Auto Works does a fantastic job. Go with someone with HAMB recommendations.

For enclosed transport from a real company (not a broker) I’ve used both Passport Transport and Reliable carriers. Used both on several occasions with very positive results. Not cheap but fair market

    Thank you, HOTRODPRIMER !

  10. I have a problem finding shippers to deliver to Long Island. The GW and Throg's Neck tolls were $66 in 2014 and that leg took 5 hours. I went with PDQ Auto Movers and they were on top of the move the whole way. I would use them again.

Reliable Transport has been great. Passport (Pisspoor) was a nasty disaster.

I used Intercity lines, it was enclosed transport. No issues, on time.

Regrettably I had no control over the delivery of a car I sold, I urged the man to use one of the about, he found a much cheaper service, the guy showed up with a home made trailer, it was a 4 wheel trailer with 3 wheels.

The truck was leaking oil & smoking and he had 2,300 miles to get to the destination, the man that purchased the car called me 3 days after the car was picked up and questioned me about the driver, I told him the truth and what I thought.

It took 11 days for the driver to arrive, it seems the engine let go in his truck and he never called the buyer.

He told me after the fact that he had got a quote from racinman Rick and thought he was saving money because rick was 550 dollars more, rick was going to take the car in his enclosed trailer and promised a 3 day delivery, he later said he was a idiot for using a fly by night company. HRP

I have heard from both Ben and Bill. Ben is not able to ship anytime soon, but Bill said he may be able to. He is waiting on a seller in IA for a shipment that would go to Georgia. Since Bill is in Ohio, he could deliver the truck to me in WI, and then go to Iowa to get the hot rod. I hope it works out. He quoted me $735, which I thought was fair. I have had cheaper quotes, but their reliability is questionable.

The H.A.M.B. guys mentioned were not available to haul my woody from New Hampshire to California so we contacted a broker who had several transporters contact us. The first two (inexpensive quotes) were not very professional. It cost a little more but we settled on TopLine Service out of Texas. (thanks Peg). They showed up on time, with a clean, enclosed, well maintained rig and loaded with experience and confidence. The car got here at the promised time with no problems. We also found that some carriers won’t deal with non running cars. (Not surprising)

  19. I've used Horseless Carriage. They were very nice. Only complaint was plastic wrap stuck to my headers. I didn't blame them. They are an official transporter for McLaren and Lamborghini if that gives you an idea of their quality.

Used Passport and was pleased. A friend managed maintenance at Reliable. I was at their main office and it was impressive. The move a lot of real high end cars.

Glad it worked out. I am sure there are good professional haulers out there. In my pessimistic mind, though, I can see where maybe McClaren gets a different level of service than the guy with one old car.

I used Reliable last summer to transport my 40 from CA to NE. Very professional, picked up the car when they said and got it here when they said. The couple who were driving the truck were independent Reliable contractors who had been with the company 20 years. Couldn't have been happier with how they treated my car. I could have gotten it done cheaper but I had used Reliable several times in the past with good results.

I've had experience with BEN D,.. A fellow HAMBer, and a heck of a good guy, He's hauled cars for a number of friends, as well as myself. He's conscientious and very reasonable.

I sold a couple of '32 frames a while ago to a guy in the midwest. He had Ben D transport them. Ben D was delivering a car to Pomona or there abouts and stopped by on the way. We loaded the frames up in the bed of his truck and he was on the way. Seemed like a good guy to deal with.

What is it that you are trying to transport ?

    From where to where ?

When are you wanting to have it done ?

That is what anyone needs to know
    who does hauling.

I just dropped off the 1968 Plymouth Satellite four-speed convertible with matching numbers yesterday on Christmas Eve you see above.

One of 72 made - 28,000 original miles.

Bob bought this car in 1970 - sold it back in 1974 - discovered it was still with the family of the original buyer - bought it back recently
    after four years of negotiations.

He was reunited with it after 46 years
    when I dropped it off.

I am leaving Southern California now for Albuquerque New Mexico to pick up this
VW Westfalia Camper van that is 85 inches tall.

    BDCA7EEA-4D46-4436-8D76-5E7C794D8B4E.jpeg

    That goes to Seattle Washington.

I still have 14 feet available for that trip which routes west along I-40 through Bakersfield California and up the I-5 corridor to Seattle.

I am full from Seattle to Las Vegas Nevada.

Once I drop off an Las Vegas I am available for scheduled transport with 30 feet of enclosed trailer space.

    I’ve been here since 2008.
