    From above.
That's cool. Should have put at least some of the front sheet metal back on though.

This one has appeared in a couple of HAMB threads in the past but so far nobody has managed to identify it.

    Identify what, the car ?
Not sure about the hood side panels, but the grill shape looks to be 36 Ford. Hard to tell about the body.

The car is obviously a 36 Ford five window, that part is easy. What I was talking about was the driver/ history etc.

It looks like someone had to make some on site adjustments to the roof height to get their car into a class where it would be competitive. I have seen photos of this being done at El Mirage but although the background looks correct for that location this looks like a drag strip pit area and not the dry lake surface there. The slicks also suggest a drag strip.

That might have been early Inyokern, like you said it looks like Mojave desert.

The '36 coupe looks like a slightly later version of the Culver Sandblasting C/A, maybe '62-'63? It must have run better than it looked, it won it's class at the Winternationals in 1961.

Well, I have a little bit of information to add. The car was run by A & M Racing and it had an injected early hemi as seen in this shot from the 63 Winternationals. The Culver car that won class in 61 was a Willys four door sedan with Oldsmobile power.

Good looking car. The guys over at the "Cowl Steering - Just Stop" thread would have a field day with it.

I saw the ‘36 identified another thread here and the name listed as C/A winner in a 1962 Hot Rod mag so I put two and two together but didn’t get four I guess, lol.
When I was a kid I loved the competition cars that had teeth or faces painted on ‘em like that. These days I’m happy when I see a name instead of a corporation on the side.

    What the hell...
A Bantam body, a Chrysler engine...and a Chevy sticker on the grill shell ?
Musta been a left over from an earlier incarnation.

Maybe an engine upgrade w/o changing the bodywork.

PS, have you looked at the size of a Chrysler roadster body of that era? Bricklike areodynamics.

Correct. Gil Hayward's car originally had a blown 327 Chevy before the 392 Chrysler and was driven by Bob Gregg, Ron McKibben, Lyle Webster, Maury Hoover and Ray Higley. It may have also become Jim Miles' Magic Muffler entry later in its life.
