I have been fighting a powerglide shifting problem. It was rebuilt by a reliable shop. When it shifts to drive you hear a sound like WEE-OO then fine as can be. It's that sound that's driving me nuts!! It down shifts fine. checked downshift rod, fluid, mod valve band, vacuum reading. was told that it may be valve body.

Does the RPM increase before it finishes shifting?

Without video (with sound), we can only guess at what you're actually hearing.

A SWAG would be a slipping high clutch.

I've had one go OO-WEE but not WE-OO:)but only on hard right hand turns like coming off or on interstate off ramps.

Take a look at the vacuum modulator, maybe something happened on install.

He was asking if it was a cast iron (1950-1962) or aluminum (1962-1974) Powerglide. They are quite different as far as how they are assembled, although the gear trains are almost identical.
