i don't know about that but the oem never made a 4 bl one. have to be aftermarket. they did make a cast iron 340/360 one though.
they made 4bbl 318s in the early 80s, I think 79 was the first year. As for the 3-2....1970 TA 340s got them, and they sold the intakes for years (both Edelbrock and Mopar). Big ports in the intake, it'll bolt on and probably work pretty well on a 318, if you use the original vacuum actuated front and rear carbs.
Good info there, thanks. Would you happen to know what type of carbs the front and rear used? I've never heard of vacuum actuated...assume throttle position zvia vacuum instead of a linkage?
Well. after some searching, looks like I'll wind up running a single 4 unless I stumble across an intake that I am willing to spend the money on. Googling some, seems in 2010 an intake setup was selling for 2K (Edelbrocks), 3K+ for the Mopar setups. Thanks all.
You can still buy those new at any Mopar parts counter.... Including the 440 version... You can also get the new Holley carbs for those... And probably the linkage.... They'll probably run ya about $2500.00 for a complete setup give or take a few $$$$..... Tell'em Guido sent ya!!!....
Seems that the M body cop cars had a 4 barrel 318 available sometime in the 1980s. Didn’t make much power for a number of reasons, but it did have a 4bbl option.
they have linkage that limits how far the ends can open, and they open with the vacuum diaphragms, as I recall. If you try to open them all mechanically, there is just too much carb....slow airflow means it won't draw fuel, and bogs.
We have a prototype W-2 cylinder head laying in the pattern shop here and it's been awhile since the last time I've seen it.... I wanted to check out the intake ports with my calipers... Maybe it grew legs....
The W2 intake ports were larger then the 340/360 intake ports, that was one of the reasons they were cast in the 1st place. They also require W2 intakes, and W2 rocker arms and cast posts (I believe). If you think the 6 pack stuff is expensive, wait until you see the price tags on the W2 stuff. It costs a lot of money to go real fast in a Mopar. Gene
