History Images of vintage gas stations ~ pre 65

This Texaco is in Seattle. Built just after Archie's War, (II). I have aired up my bike tires there as a kid many a time and gassed up there plenty also. The building behind is a warehouse where my first wife worked. I dropped her off in the mornings on my way working as an iron worker and picked her up in the late afternoon on the way back home. It was moved from this location back a few years ago. The boots of course are the restrooms. I can say I've pissed in those boots more than once.

 

"100% natural octane"... is that organic gasoline?

EXCEPT when it was a Lincoln.

anybody know what happened to the Gilmore stations? were they part of the raceway in California?

 

They had over 3,000 gas stations on the west coast and in the 40's 75% of their shares were acquired by by the Socony-Vacuum oil Co and were merged with Mobil. JW

That looks to me like a coin op scale, you'd put in your money and get your weight and probably your fortune told.
