I bought a 1934 Ford BB heavy truck a couple years ago and it came sporting a cowl band. I haven't seen one on any other 34 trucks and was wondering if anyone knew if the band was original equipment or an aftermarket part. my 34.jpg 20200503_132743_resized_1.jpg 20200503_132749_resized_1.jpg

Maybe Fordbarn could help? I did a quick search and found nothing.

I hope someone knows something about it. You might have a really rare piece.

  4. Having built & helped build several 32- 34 Ford pickups, that is the first one I have ever seen sporting a polished cowl band. HRP

I saw one on a Fire Truck . The truck had the Ford cowl that the " drive away " truck chassis came with , ( same as a roadster pickup cowl ) with a professionally built fire truck body.
Maybe these were on the " high end " trucks .

As far as I know the truck came out of Lewistown, Montana. This was on the passenger door. Seems like a lot of miles in the first 4 years on the road. August 5, 1937 - 42981 miles. I just posted the question over on the Fordbarn. My 34 door mileage.jpg

So I started looking at pictures of 34 BB trucks on the web and it seems some have the cowl band and some don't. The band seems to move the hood compared to a truck with no cowl band. I wonder if the band was to accommodate a larger radiator or for more engine bay? 1934-ford-model-a-bb-1-ton-stake-body-1.jpg cowl band 2.jpg
