I was gathering parts for a Flathead V8 build and then I took my first ride in a T speedster. It hooked me bad. Guys in the local T club are really helpful, they like to have more cars added to the herd. I have sourced most the parts from different places. I have a rebuilt engine with a few hundred miles on it. Its been sitting for about 10 years. I am going to do a complete teardown to check the babbit and clearances. New rings, valve springs and freshen up the valve lap. Here is a pic of what I am going to copy.
I am getting ready to chop the rear crossmember off and set the lowering brackets. This is the first T I have ever worked on. Helps to have a good machine shop 10 miles down the road that only works on antique engines. I am learning a lot quickly.
Awesome to see so many T speedsters being built right now. I'm in the same boat as you, my first T ever. Can you show some pics on how you did the rear x-member? I'm still debating on how i wanna tackle the rear of mine. Great idea on working with your local T club. Ill have to try and find a local T officianado. What machine work do you plan to have done? I may copy you. My next door neighbor is a semi retired engine builder. He just moved his entire shop to his house. Literally right next door!
Guy on eBay sells the cross members with the brackets already welded up or separate. I will look up the link later. I bought a rebuilt engine that had about 300 miles on it. 30 over balanced with a decent cam. Old school Babbitt The block sitting in the frame is a scrap one from my local shop for mockup. He gets more bad ones than good
Don't mean to hijack your thread but this just came thru my buddies shop for paint and some mechanicals. Thought you would like to see it for inspiration or whatever.
As I have said more than a few times on the HAMB, there just isn't anything more fun than a Model T speedster. Enjoy the build, you're doing great!!
Yes, I like number 13 above. Very nice So I just picked up a deal I couldn’t pass up. Even though I am throttling back spending because of this crisis we are in, this I had to have. It is in the back of my truck tonight and will head home tomorrow.
Yes He is the one taking me over the edge. He is selling off a lot of nice speed stuff. Dropped a lot of his unfinished projects.
I'm just sorry he's been a jerk to me, for why I don't know. Claiming how he wants to keep this stuff going for the young people in the sport and then cuts me right off and can't give me the time of day. Too bad. He's also the reason I refuse to post there anymore. I guess you've had better dealings...no offense to you personally, but you must be 25 or old enough to have deeper pockets than I do to afford the price of admission into his world. That aside, the Chevy head conversion looks great dolled up as a Fronty. I sold my whole Chevy set up just like you have to buy the Fronty I did. Your T is going to be awesome, keep up with posts as you can.

Sick as a dog this weekend something I ate. Back on it today mocking up the firewall and cockpit frame. Got the brakes plumbed up
