If I was going to run 3x2 3 bolt Stromberg carburetors.....
I would use either originals or the new English made units. It’s a lot more expensive but if I was going through the trouble.....
Might as well go with the real stuff.

    For a SBC.......
    Rochester 3x2s

Never buy a Chinese carb. There are things you can buy from China that you can get by with but carbs are not one of them.

Like the guys said either buy the new Stromberg stuff if you’re going to go that route or if you’re gonna go with rochesters they have to be set up right with proper outboard carbs and primary. My tripower on my 409 runs fantastic and pulls hard when you open up the three carbs but I took the time to fully rebuild them to a GM tripower spec installing proper high end (NOT SPEEDWAY!!!) outboard carb bases that seal and jetting based on 409 specs. Reach out to Stromberg and talk to them about their product. You’ll learn lots from manufacturers like that. You’ll learn zero from Speedway, the majority of the stuff is well...not worth your money!

I have been through this several times and believe you will be better served by using small base 2G's. Most manifolds can be re-drilled if not already set up that way.

It's a lot cheaper to seek and gather the parts yourself. Plus, it's a lot more fun and it's traditional.

I think a progressive linkage is the way to go.

Where did you get your carb bases?

    Thanks Phil

  11. Buy the complete set up from a running driving car you've ridden in or driven (preferably that day). Then remove it in one piece, from manifold to air scoops, and bolt it on yours. No muss, no fuss.

  12. Thanks for the good advice guys.
    Saved me much aggravation
Going to start my search for the Roch 2G setup

Depending on price, that may be a good way to go. Maybe you could turn the top of the air cleaner over if you don't want to be known as part of the "Leave to Beaver" racing team. (Wally, Lumpy, and Eddie were car nuts on some of the shows)

Or, maybe you would like to be known as the “ Beaver” racing team! Wink wink!

If it makes any difference, I think the first offer is the best offer.

  22. Ed make sure you don't get an Edelbrock C355 intake, it's made for a 265 and has really small ports, you would want a C357 if from Edelbrock.

I tried one of those intakes and you could see the intake ports on the heads with the manifold in place.

started with Speedway bases when i didn't know better. junk, the butterflies were so poorly shaped to the base body you could see nothing but daylight behind them. Not fixable. I then ordered bases from Vintage Speed. Charlie's not very popular here for various reasons but his bases were perfect out of the box. They seal nice and tight as they are supposed to.

I had it priced higher, and got no takers! You have to sell at what the market will bear. But it still hasn’t sold! I don’t need it.....look at the car in my avatar!
