  2. OK, I've viewed this entire thread and no mention of the group that were around the Inglewood, Westchester area of California around 1959. The plaque just said ELIMINATORS 90+. That was a drag strip validated time which was pretty good for 1959. Anyone else remember ?

B7255DCF-3AA6-4072-B043-B29FB1C9997E.jpeg The plaque I run on the wagon with permission from a couple of the founding members. Made from the original 1955 casting when the club was founded.

Wow! It's been almost six months since there have been any plaque photos posted here. Time to bump it to the top in case some of the newbies missed it.

In the upcoming year, I should be posting the 10,000th photo on my site.

  9. And still nobody seems to know anything about this plaque that I've had for over 40 yrs.........its supposedly from the USA, I certainly know of no Long Beach here in Oz where I found it at a Oz parts importers shop around 1978......poor pic I know but Throttle Stompers, Long Beach surely someone knows of them.........the guys from Valley Custom were supposedly in a club by that name according to Pat Ganahl' book "The American Custom Car", page 18.......Neil Emory, Clay Jensen and Dean Batchelor apparently were all members of a club called the Throttle Stompers around 1940-41.........is this the club they belonged to?.............thanks....Andy Douglas

The Hot Rod and Custom Car Clubs book I have does list a Throttle Stompers club in Burbank, CA but that's all the info I have.

  14. Back in 1963, I and a few pals started a car club. I was the president for a few years but left the club when life got complicated (kids, houses, etc.). The club continued on and a few months ago one of my pals brought this sticker by.

I have it on my toolbox. A while later, he dropped off this (repro) plaque that the guys had made up recently. Looks like the club is still going strong, even without me.

The plaque is on my shop door. Guess I'll have to build another car now.

According to my Smart Phone, which is a lot smarter than me, it's about 35 miles between those two cities. I can almost guarantee that was not their plaque if they had one. If the club was based all around the Burbank area it would have had a location closer to Burbank.

When I ran across this plaque from my home town no one I knew had ever heard of the club, I ran into road blocks every where I turned and then one day my wife poster a photo on her facebook account and someone reached out to her saying he was in the club back in the late 50's.

I was able to get in touch with him and learn more about the club and they now get together once a year to catch up on each other, they are scattered out but one gentleman still lives here in Anderson and I have known the man since I was in my teens but never knew he was in a car club.

Think out side the box when searching for information. HRP
