I thought I had better get a fire extinguisher in the single seater and there is no room to put it so I made some oak brackets and mounted it to the steering column.
Show me where u put your extinguisher. 0B73596D-08D7-4796-B139-06608DD06760.jpeg C5A09F23-AE93-473B-A876-212250D66A54.jpeg D3CF5805-CBF6-494D-B5D1-55B0F6F8A7E5.jpeg

As a retired firefighter I'm telling you that if you don't have one you're a fool.

I carry one as well. In all my old cars. I’m thinking of upgrading them all to larger ones soon.

I’d rather have too much than not enough!!!!

Put one in my 60 Vette right in front of the pass seat. Couldn't find anyplace else to put it. Bought a good one too. my car is well insured , but I would hate to loose it. She's a good ole girl !

I always carry one. My daily driver has it behind the drivers seat, easy to grab. Even though the Comet is not finished yet I just bought a new Hal Guard for it, it will be mounted between the seats on the tunnel. I have at least a dozen of them in the shop, every wall has one, the machine room has two, the storage room has one also. I also have a smoke alarm hard wired to the alarm system.

Under the seat in my '39 p/u. I bought one with an ABC rating, good for all types of fires.

  20. I carry a large commercial fire extinguisher in both cars, I started carrying a big fire extinguisher after Randy's roadster caught fire sitting in bumper to bumper traffic, his small on board extinguisher ran out before the fire did resulted in a lot of unnecessary damage, had it not been for a young man at a service station seeing everything playing out and grab the commercial unit from the service bay and had the fire out before the car was a total loss. Yessir, one in each vehicle. On the floor in front of the driver and not in the trunk.

Yes. Where you can grab it as a driver, in a panic. Powder.

Makes a godawful mess but less of one than fire does.

I'll get you out of a pinch but if it wants to burn bad, it's gonna burn and if you can use it to make sure everybody gets out safely, then at a distance it can burn. At the end of the day it's metal and memories, sweat and tears but it's only a car and that can be replaced. You can't say that of life.

    Phil

Edit: Can you tell I have a few good friends who are firefighters?

In my '31 Model A coupe, yes. Some of the others, no. :( In others, yes. :)
