My name is Herb Filbrick, and for 9 frightening years I LEAD THREE LIVES! I remember it too! I just watched "It came from outer space" last night. I last saw it at the Broadway Theater at the Kids Saturday Matinee in about 1956!
The first looks like someone's Ardun Ford sprint car. It looks familar but I can't place it. Is there any info for this car, Rootie? Again, I'm not recognizing the car or the track on the second photo either. And I'm not real sure about the last photo either. This might even be a big car what with the dirt track tires on the car. Not sure what the deal is with the fluids apparently running out of the car. And with the Pagoda all boarded up in the background it's possible that this photo was taken in the summer (or every early in May) as many teams kept both their Championship and big cars in Gasoline Alley during the racing season. And running on the track to check out your car was OK as well so long as you cleared it with IMS Grounds boss Clarence Cagle. Thanks, Rootie!
The Ardun car is, as it says. the C-T Automotive Spl. The -T being Clem Tebow who is 2nd from the left. The driver is Jack Gardner and as the #1 indicates it was the CRA Championship car in the mid 50s. I believe Art Bisch was the driver then. Pretty sure it may have been the first sprint car Willie Davis built. The Baldwin Spl. was a prolific car raced from the 40s thru the 50s in different configurations on the west coast. It still exists and IIRC is in the Bruce Canepa collection. I have no info on the last car, but I think your right, that it was a dirt car kept at the speedway. Possibly owned by Fred Peters but not sure. Good looking car though.
I think that's Betty Davis but I can't prove it. Edit 1/1/21 That's Carolyn Jones Thanks Johnnyboy46!
1st one looks Pier Ave. in Hermosa Beach, Ca. Pio’s on the right for a meatball sandwich and Taco Bills on the left for the Original Taco Burrito. Lighthouse too for Jazz and the Blues....
