Why don't you check with Rally America. They make a nice wheel that looks close to what your looking for and a lot safer.

  2. Did they have any more to the story? I have never seen a failure like that without a very large motor.

if spokes are loose, they can self destruct. normal 35 wires-welded spokes on both ends. KH bent spokes are welded on the rim, and a regular spoke nipple on the hub side, they cant be loose

Nice find, the 4.5" wide ones are pretty rare.

I got lucky a few years back and brought 5 really nice ones with no hubcaps at an online auction for $75.00.

Auction site does lots of auctions for the different neighboring counties. I remember going to live county auctions every year with my dad, miss those days. anyways it was on one of the counties auctions that had mainly dump trucks, city trucks and other bigger off topic truck parts. So if you didn't open the listing up you didn't know these were there.

So when I went to pick them up I found out the county brought the property next door that had a small run down 2 door garage on it and they found them up in the attic part when they were getting ready to tear it down. .

they thought they would bring more but as me they came to the same conclusion, being a county auction the hot rod crowd didn't open the listing up and didn't see them.

I would like to know what those are as well. I have a pair 16" bent spoke Kelsey Hayes 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern. They are 4.5 or 5 wide I don't remember. Although those look smaller then a 4.5 bolt pattern.

It’s on eBay. Says it’s 5 x 4.5. I’m still figuring all of this wheel stuff out so what is a 5 x 4.5 bolt pattern used on? Just a different year or different vehicle? I thought the 16” 5 x 5.5 was the preferred size for Ford.

I just got a response from the guy on eBay that it’s a Dodge Kelsey Hayes but he says ford guys like them for updated front ends. So I’m guessing 5x4.5 is for Dodge???

  17. Dodge, Ford, studebaker and others all used 5 on 4.5 bolt patterns at times

Thanks for looking into what they are. I always thought they were either Chrysler or Studebaker. No wonder I could never find a Ford hubcap that would fit. IMG_20200505_221455.jpg

I think I'd go with molasses or citric acid soak on those instead of blasting.

Couple rounds of soaking with power wash in between they should clean up well and you see where you stand.

There are wheels for Internationals made by Kelsey-Hayes. Internationals have bolt patterns that look like that. Coincidentally, they have a 5.75" hubcap hole size, which is that same as Fords at the time so you can put a Ford hubcap in them.

    Hey Guys,
It’s been a few weeks. I got my stuff back from the media blaster & sprayed everything in primer. The wheels turned out pretty good. None of them are perfect, but the rust came off & they don’t have too much pitting. I’m actually very happy with how they turned out. [IMG][IMG]
