Hello everyone, Mick here. I hope this morning finds you safe. So I was perusing the classic movie channel and came across a Movie called "The Sweet Bird of Youth". Starring Paul Newman and others of the period. It was filmed in1962, based in Florida. Now I am not a custom car guy so much as I prefer hot rod types. I do however appreciate the work and execution of many of the more tasteful customs. In this movie the main antagonist to Newmans character drove what I believe was a Chrysler custom convertible. It was a light blue color and had a frame less cut down windshield and a dual cowl with a formed low rear windshield as well. I identified it as a Chrysler by the tail lights mounted on top of the quarter panel? It had white pleated interior and I thought it was a good looking looking custom. At first I thought it was a Caddy, but not sure. Anyone else know of it?
This one?1956 Imperial Crown Custom Parade Phaeton in Sweet Bird of Youth(Description stolen from the interweb)The correct designation of this one is Imperial Crown Custom Parade Phaeton. They were not Presidential cars and were not operated by the US Presidency. In fact Chrysler extensively transformed 3 parade phaetons they had built in 1952 for official parade use using the Crown Imperial chassis ,by updating them with 1955 Imperial front end sheet metal and grille and 1956 Imperial rear fenders and trim.In George H. Damman\'s 70 years of Chrysler they are listed as 1955 cars,so probably produced in late 1955.
