The oil pan has been a trooper. So far it has managed to retain the pieces of 2 crankshafts.

off topic : has anyone rewired there car & soldered every connection ? i do not recommend it unless your in lock down ................ steve

 

I always did till I started desert racing two stroke bikes and found that proper crimps were better. Crimping correctly with proper tools is the way to go.

 

when driving truck , i found that they collect corrosion , therefore they break at the crimp . really bad in winter . went to Boise in January , what a crock . so much damage from snow , ice , cinders .
lock down gave me time to try it . WOW very time consuming .

Local guys put together a Thursday night Main Street Cruise. I didn't make first one, but looked like turnout was good.
Going to install my Brierley head this weekend. Trying to do one thing at a time to see what each mod contributes to driveability.
When I did my roadster I put the hi comp head on stock motor. Drove it like that all summer while I stockpiled the rest of my stuff. Next step was cam, dual downdraft, headers, mallory, and lightened flywheel...To say driveability was improved would be a fair understatement.
When I first got my (all stock) CCPU I thought the parking brake was on ha-

That's interesting. I had a similar experience on my dump trucks a long time ago. I've pondered how to do the molded rubber around the connections like factory.

 

Well, color me intrigued. I can read a wiring diagram just great, but I SUCK at soldering. What are the tools you use?

 

I use the non-insulated heavy duty terminals (I think Lawson maybe?) they have double crimps. Good heatshrink tubes stay somewhat flexible, but I can't remember what brand I've got.

Cleaning up and throwing out junk in the shop.

 

It's the only way I do wiring. I will admit of you have a proper crimper and terminals, it is just as good. I don't and have done it my way for so long I just keep doing it.

And yes, good heat shrink is a must. I seal all my connections. I am a fan of the 3:1 ratio adhesive lined shrink tubing.
