Sorry for the slow progress, since Detroit I have been busy with customer work.

I have been doing some parts design and getting some of the steering parts machined. I needed a good way to get the steering from the center of the car in cockpit, to the outside of the chassis and run up front. So I designed a chain drive steer clear set up. Finally got the firewall cut, and everything assembled. Still need to put the tensioner adjuster bolt on there. But it’s looking like something. 7AE92C6F-BA3D-4F5D-A42D-5617E4B6CDB5.jpeg ADF04C91-D3D3-4814-B89C-C5A9ACF935CC.jpeg

Looks great, remember the inspector will move the steering wheel to see the action of the front wheels. When I was doing it I wanted to see slight movement of a tire without moving the wheel much. I was never looking to see how sensitive it was just some movement. Slower steering always seemed to help drivability keep; up the nice work.

yep i always check for movement and no slop I from wheel to tires in the tech line. The good thing is if I need it to speed up a little I can correct it with the the gearing.

when laying out the steering I was talking with kiwi Paul and be recommended putting a reduction box in line to slow the steering down .so it’s hard to over correct at speed. The reducer I went with is a 2:1

So have been making a little more progress on the streamliner. Been working on getting the wheels built, wheels and tires on, more things gusseted, and finish up some little things. As of now the plan is to have it on the ground for the first time on July 11. Then have it at speed week for its first pre inspection on work so far 1274C2FF-8C21-411D-82C3-5D86C60EC403.jpeg 1F316381-B3BB-4E1E-A5A9-2BFFFF03C00C.jpeg 58C40499-EEE5-421F-9E98-4DAC0463ED16.jpeg A6B9E34C-8DEA-47F3-B24D-4C79AF0E26F7.jpeg BCD3FAEA-28DD-4119-AA6E-2AB6F6453655.jpeg 65FC2BEA-8C01-49CD-B821-011602885FD9.jpeg D17B0EC1-F050-4B43-816D-DE7FED7B700E.jpeg 0069D6B0-E10F-43EA-9D5F-AC54BCBA1CA0.jpeg BFE1D582-2F10-4CED-9803-3DDEADB54342.jpeg 3CE3B0F6-EF43-46B8-8F90-3A16640072A7.jpeg

Put the car on the ground today! All suspension works, car steers. Working now on lift cylinder mounts, rear bump stops, seat, and floors A8BEB558-0335-4493-9C61-DC9866A008AC.jpeg A3ECC75E-57D1-42D9-B26C-6369C23017D2.jpeg 499B53A9-F734-4706-88AD-962794BA8921.jpeg 785049C7-10DA-4D08-81F8-57BDA296DA75.jpeg 9ECC4E72-B08A-454F-A4F9-260E1E46A14F.jpeg

Looks great! I've been a big fan of "Redhead" ever since the Hot Rod cover shot back in the 1960's. Now that your car is on the ground could you jack up one front wheel so we can understand how the shocks work? Bob

A few more progress shots from over the weekend. Got the rear adjustable bump stops made and tacked in, seat being designed and fabrication started, temporary steering in until I get the tilt column built, front lift cylinders tacked in, and decided to run and old breathing o2 bottle for the fuel tank up front B758CBEE-D8FA-49E4-AC33-11973C868513.jpeg D31FC124-B4DC-4286-8C6B-3F615F7A40C1.jpeg 025E5B3A-BDC8-4902-849D-70265B55DD37.jpeg C63C8B8C-29E3-413C-8D27-BF54A38F6F51.jpeg B11718BF-9EF1-467C-9C63-7E9F9ABE420B.jpeg CDB92AF2-068D-4359-9859-E78E60232E75.jpeg

What a wonderful build. Don't forget the many gussets (I prefer tubular rather than plate) you'll need on your roll cage. Lots more coping in your future.

explain that to me... is that a front mounted crank driven supercharger? I have never seen anything like that, although it makes sense from a height perspective. What do these types of cars run for tranny? Or is it something more exotic than conventional.

I have always drooled over these cars, but never even seen one in person.

  24. You are correct. A number of very quick cars ran them back in the 50s.

I am well aware. I have some of them made up already just not on the car yet. Waiting to get it looked over before I put them in. I am doing 180 wrap around gussets so I will have to weld those bars in solid first. 99502720-0BDC-4AE0-8FCA-831155BC7172.jpeg

  26. Thats a Potvin supercharger. Most of the modern cars run some form of high end racing tranny suck as Lenco, Jerico, Liberty and the NASCAR Tex versions of a muncie.

The bearing hubs on your chain steering setup, what are they from? The spindles on my Kubota mower deck look very similar.

Your design and execution are amazing!

We use a B&J transmission. Much like a Lenco but more Bonneville car friendly.
