I'm building a shoebox sedan I've put a coupe roof on and I've come to the part where I need to finalize the chassis and finish up the floors. The car is low, like frame sitting on the rear end before the C notch low. What I need to know is if the guys running low shoeboxes have modified their wheel tubs or if they have enough room. Ill be running 6.00-16 tires or a 28 inch tall tire. Ill be installing a Murray Custom Rods notch. Just looking for some advice. 20200424_000555.jpeg 20200422_194719.jpeg

  2. It looks good so far. Do you have any pictures of when you did the roof conversion ?

The only thing I will add is to get the tire and wheel combo that you plan on running and install them and then add about 300 lbs to the trunk and see where you are at . You will want a couple of inches clearance above the wheel

it’s because he moved all the shit to behind the camera to build that fancy new deck floor haha. @Tuck has had a lot of way low shoeboxes maybe he can weigh in.

My last one was pretty low and didn’t cut the tubs but it wasn’t being driven on Kansas City roads at 80 mph either lol

I think I'm going to raise them or make all new ones. The car will probably come down a little more than those pics so I'm just going to do it to be safe.

I just took a month to reorganize everything and add that white painted wood deck work space! It sure helps!!

My old 51 was pretty low and had the 6.00x16s and I could see where the tire had rubbed the tub some. I think I'll end up building new tubs. The car will be a bit lower than it is those pics when done and like you said KC roads aren't exactly smooth!

Thank you! No it will be a low static drop. Will probably add air shocks and a small tank but I'm not a fan of bags.

IMG_3104.JPG IMG_3399.JPG My 50 wagon <--- I raised the stock rear tubs and added a sheet metal strip moving the inner half inboard 1 1/2 inches. Now the tires don't rub and I put bump stops to keep the center section from hitting the floor. Wagon problems. Had to make all new front inner fenders because the originals hit when this low.

You will probably need to trim the air box on the front.

The front seems to have plenty of room... its close to the toe board but I think I'll be ok there. I'll know more when I get the body back on.
