Wild Child 1.jpg Wild Child 2.jpg I found this receipt from my 69 Barracuda paint work in late 1978. Seems cheap but I had just paid $1200 for the car and now I was doubling it with paint.

But here it is 42 years later and the paint still looks great! I think I got my money's worth.

    I actually found that too.
CORRECTION: In late 1978, I was making a bit more than $9 an hour so about $21,000 annually. I was still at home till early 1979 so the paint cost was no big deal at the time.

Labor rates for the shop would have been $18.00 an hour or so with the bodyman getting 50 percent.

They had to paint it twice after the first inspection revealed a bunch of little things wrong. Jim and the guys wanted to be sure it was correct before I got to take it out of there. I had taken it in basically stripped but they had to pull both large pieces of glass. It was truly just a shell with wheels and one seat and an engine to get it there.
