Very cool. Jake and I talked about it today. We'll be learning from you from here on!

Dusted off the ol’ Bieber Changer and stuck it back in place today. Getting ready to paint the cage. A couple steps closer to plumbing/wiring.

Being quarantined and shutting down my business is going to help me make some progress. The last several days I have finish welded/painted my rear axle, interior cage, trans crossmember, headers and steering. I worked on some figment issues with the tunnel and started wrapping in dynamat, got my tach in place and mounted a gauge pod in place of the radio.

Making the best of a bad situation, great progress. I thought you'd be an essential business or at least be selling sanitizer and wipes from stand on Carson Street.

    Update:

The guy that built my axle drilled and tapped a 5x4.75 pattern for the magnesium wheels I have. It was off enough that I decided they won’t work without destroying lug nuts/studs. So I utilized the 5x5 pattern and was loaned these mags which I sandblasted and am considering painting cast iron grey.

I also got all of the brakes plumbed, but I’m still lacking full pressure. It’s difficult to bleed brakes solo. Especially with a tiny Wilwood reservoir buried up under the dash. But I’m confident I’ll figure it out. I’m running a line lock/park brake and proportioning valve to the fronts as the brakes are designed for a lighter car and it’s on 4” wide tires.

It’s been very difficult trying to order everything overnight and stay ahead of progress to avoid running around town for parts during all of this covid crap....

I’ve been spending 6-8 hrs a day on the stude and today I completed the wiring! This would have taken me another 10 years if it weren’t for this pandemic. Just need to have some fuel lines made, get the distributor on a dyno to phase the rotor, and a few odds and ends before I can hopefully take it for a test drive!

Very nice. This virus has turned out to be good for some car builders. It means I won't miss as many races before the season starts up.
    I really like your Stude.

So close! The wiring looks nice. Love the dash shot.
Does your TBI require a return line to the tank?

It’s looking like I’ll take a maiden voyage today! Efi still need some tuning, trans is shifting funny and sticking between 1st/reverse which I attribute to the crazy shifter but it moves on its own IMG_3904.JPG Adjustments.JPG Adjustments.JPG

That is great! Take some Video! Be careful! Wash your hands and don't touch your face.
I had a '48 Chevy fastback with a crappy floor shift kit that would shift into second and stay in first. Trannys don't like that. Yours looks pretty complicated but cool.

I hope you can find a way to pick up some cool air from outside the engine bay.

Went up and down the street a bit and ended up exploding the trans mount doing a little burnout. But it did ok

Congratulations! I thought it was another earthquake. It's been a long road. Now the road has a little rubber on it. Trans mounts are cheaper than trans gears.

Also, I’ve got a plan for cool air but I have to get the front end on it before I know if it’ll work.

I started working on the front end. It will be a flipper eventually. I think I have the basic idea started but it’ll need some more engineering before it’s functional. IMG_3931.JPG

I replaced the trans mount and fixed the throttle linkage after some burnouts went south on the maiden voyage. I was going to try test drive #2 today but the alternator isn’t charging and I’m over it now. So, maybe tomorrow! BCD9B31F-6DE0-4470-93AA-20FD33DC6427.jpg

Bad Ass Tony Running good enough to break stuff on the Maiden Voyage, you can't ask for much more from a South Bend Maiden. o_O

It looks good! Studebakers are way cool. How is it running? How do you do the logging for the EFI? Set your parameters and drive?

Running pretty good so far. I have a buddy that’s pretty experienced with the FiTech and he’s going to do some tuning for me. There’s definitely some bugs to work out. Yeah you basically just set them and go, then make adjustments as needed anytime after that.

Got some exhaust handled so no I can hear all my hard work fall apart
The rear springs are definitely too soft to be on their own so traction/ladder bars are a must have soon.

Also, as cool as the Bieber shifter is, I’m not sure it’s for me. It may just need some kind of adjusting but I’m having a hard time with it so far.

So, Im curious about the front wheel/tire combo. Really want to run those wheels on mine, but tires seem to be extremely limited. How did the car drive/ steer? Do you have a spool in the car.

So far it seems to drive pretty well but I have been keeping things pretty mild since I just got it on the road. No hard stops or swerves yet. It’s been awhile since I’ve looked for tires, but they are for a motorcycle.
I have a Yukon “ratcheting” locker in it.

P.s. the spindle mount brakes SQUEAL loud and I have yet to find a solution, so if anyone has any ideas let me know.

Lookin better all the time. Some things from our brains don't work on our cars. If it was easy everyone would do it.
Did you use the anti squeal grease on the back of you brake pads?

I’ve tried 2 different types so far. I have one more in mind. Then I move on to figuring out some type of spring setup I think

Really like the car. You have definitely captured the look in my opinion.
    Great job!
