History Belly Burner exhaust, let's discuss

  1. You should definitely mock that up. I think 2" may be a bit heavy looking in comparison to the top bed rail but one never knows until one sees it.

  4. I have seen restored rods around the mid-west that had belly burners. I never liked 'em but I am an odd duck.
    I like stacks though. LOL

    Agreed.

  6. I am looking forward to this build. It sounds very cool and I always love seeing more custom trucks.

So, I wanna talk about this some more. What percentage of the original pipes were functional? Most of them? I want mine to work, but there are dumb people everywhere. Literally will walk up and touch em to see if they are hot.

  9. Can’t be much worse than the chrome side pipes on my t-bucket. I do plan on running belly burners on the rpu when I get to that point.

  10. I also plan on running exhaust dumps behind the front wheels, and those will hopefully be open a lot of the time.

Blame Dan Hay. He sent me these pics and got it all started again.....
I just realized this truck is actually owned by a hamber and in this thread already. @40pumike

I was almost over them, until I saw this one at the Iron Invasion show.

  14. I will say that the kickstand lakes on my 40 sedan would cool quickly because they were so exposed to the air. I gotta think the belly burners would be dangerous for only a few minutes after shut off. I got worried one day because I drove my 40 to work (school) and some little kid would come by and touch them because they were low down, running board height. I gotta think belly burners are in a safer location than functional lake pipes, for curious little kids.

Also, with all the t-buckets built over the years I don't remember stories about burns.

Decades ago I found the remains of a '32-34 Ford truck behind a grain elevator just east of the Kansas Colorado line. Full fendered. Old white & black rolled 'n pleated interior. Thickson tall two pot intake. Belly burners almost rotted of away. I was maybe 18 at the time and have been hooked on the look ever since.

I have them on my RPU. They cool off pretty fast. They'll nip you when filling for gas but they're cool to the touch after a couple minutes

@Inked Monkey is right his cool off quicker than his tires do. We met up in route to the hamb drags and the pipes were cold and the tires to hot to want to touch

Roothawg .........is there any way I can talk you outta belly burners and talk you INTO two big stacks going straight up on either side of the cab??!!! Like maybe a 18 wheeler!
Use big tubing (like 3 or 4 inch diameter pipes) Chrome or flat black....
