    Now that's different.
Never saw a hot rodded Graham.
    Slicks, even.

Chili, that would be the engine in the Cord that the body stampings came from.

Ernie Szelesi’s 33 cabrio, later painted gold and called Gold Brick, curious where the picture was taken as it’s before Detroit dragway and he Was from Lincoln Park Mi

That's a great dot connection @31Apickup, I know of the Gold Brick but certainly did not make the connection...Good Eye...no surprise as even in this evolving state pictured the Hotrod had evidence of higher quality workmanship and that interesting bottom fender rework is actually quite evident.

"This is a really awesome collection of photos from September 1955, November & December 1956 of drag racing here in the St. Louis area. I believe these races took place in the Alton Illinois area. Some of the photos are from the photographers time spent in the U.S Air Force

These Photos are a priceless! Special thanks to the Moriarty family for sharing these photos with us!"

@Moriarity is this coincidence with a typo or just a circle of Hamb?...Cool Pics regardless...

I'm gonna guess 35ish something...but then I draw blanks...Many English Variants look foreign but this looks like Mid 30s GM with an engine like Nads put in his T...Sharp looking Sedan...What is it?...

Going by his HAMB "handle", I would say its a Rover 10. Looks like a Daimler V8 to me.
    Cheers,

...This is way out there but a contender and competitor that no doubt left others with some styling cues and respect for the unusual...

@Six Ball mentions on occasion reversed frames and this may in fact be one of those...

I often wonder about the Racers themselves whether brand loyalty and roots played a part in the styling of their Racer/Hotrods...One thing for sure is this mans Back had a cushy place to land...:D

As of 2018 it was owned by...Quoted below at a link below dated 2018...

"Today it's looked after by Blake and his own son. They run Blake Machine Company in Phoenix, Arizona, which produces replacement parts for a number of classic cars, particularly those from Dodge."

    https://www.motorauthority.com/news/1115262_rare-duesenberg-hot-rod-visits-jay-lenos-garage

    Further quoted elsewhere...

"The current owner’s father acquired the car at auction in the 1970s when he learned that a prospective buyer planned to unceremoniously dump the wonderful engine in favour of a small-block Chevy. He traded a 1931 Cadillac V8 Phaeton (then worth around $30,000 USD) for the the Duesenberg hot-rod straight across. After acquiring it, the car became something of a family heirloom and the current owner is heartily invested in maintaining this piece of history."

018.jpg Stogy, this isn't one of those reversed frames. It was built by Vern Houle and Jack Henry of the Road Runners from an English Riley. 221 inch flathead.

Stogy, Vern Houle was working at a Ford dealer in 1938 and someone brought in a Riley roadster in as a trade. Him and Jack Henry bought it together and built the car in the pic. Riley frame front end Chevy rear axle 221 out of a truck.

OEM parts include 50 Chevy fenders for the nose, 50 Chevy hood for the hood sides, and 1953 International hood for the hood top.

The body has been shortened behind the b pillar, 3 window cowl top grafted to Cabriolet sides, both the cowl top and windshield lip have been sectioned. Doors have been shortened and sectioned. Top is a mix of '59 Fiat and Triumph Spitfire. Rockers have been radiused, wheelwells raised and moved rearward. Windshield is removable and made of bits of a Spitfire rear bumper. 1941 Ford dash....

Oof, it's been a lot of work.

Thanks Joe...I would suspect that Riley Roadster was a rare Animal at that time in North America...with Racing at the Tracks and Speedways having much to do with that...I wonder if the Riley they used was a Former Racer...or just a Civilian Model...

    Another Pic below and text
    Quoted below...

"This shot shows the Jack Henry-Vern Houle Riley sports car fitted with a 21 stud, 221" flattie and was taken at Muroc on May 17, 1942, before it ran 118.57 mph."

Still Racing and I believe the War had Started...Can't imagine what was going on in their minds...What a drag...

Hamber Edward Lloyd made a T Roadster out of a Pizza Delivery Truck but you have chosen a more period approach and that's pretty Traditional in this Hobby...Jalopy Journal is the place to be...;)

...Speaking of Jalopies, here's a well profiled one and I'm suspecting few parts are the same color...not that there's anything wrong with that of course...Run Whatcha' Brung...;)
