getting real close to firing it up . i primed the the oil pump , i have oil pressure . the problem im having is there is no oil going to the rocker shafts.have i done something wrong ?
When you primed the oil pump did you crank the motor over by hand? When you prime it you need to bring it up to pressure, then turn the motor over by hand at the crank 1/4 turn and prime again. Do that for at least 2 revolutions to get oil to the top end.
Just a thought..... cam bearings not installed correctly (oil holes not aligned correctly). This will prevent oil from getting to the rocker arm assy...… (ask me how I know ) !!!
Putting a groove in the cam bearing back or the block will solve the it. A lot of early V8’s and some 6’s could have the same problem.
The oil feed to the rockers is timed through the cam bearing journals. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
What Triumph I says. The oil holes in the cam have to line up with the holes in the cam bearings before oil will get to the rocker shaft.
Neil, good to see the progress you are making. Roll the crank around 1/4 revolution, preoil and repeat. You should see oil on the top end.
When I had to prime my 324 We were two people I had a hand drill in my hands with a homemade tool to run the oil pump In the same time my friend turned the crank We had to do that for almost 30 minutes before we can see oil on the top Remember the distributor turns counterclockwise
