  4. So you’re telling me there’s a car in the photo, right?

  6. I had a little break in the action so I sketched this out quick tonight. I have another drawing of a 1977 car but it is even further from HAMB friendly, even though many members may have driven one or ridden in the back seats of one...

..."City of Pasadena" and Friendly FlyPast...

An Aviation Memory meets an Aircraft Inspired Land Speed Racer...I have shared this Post War Racer before from other angles and not seen this one that I recall and when I did it reminded me of the mid to late 50s Vulcan I first saw in the late 60s at an Airshow...with its Stunning Sizeable unforgettable shape...I'm not really sure what Marv Lees Racer is other than Blown GM 6 powered and Nasty Cool. I'm Glad I found another connection to it at the link below...A Late Hambers Father Probably Raced Alongside this Racer...It had Crazy Pipes...looked a bit Reptilian...Beasty!!!

    The Thread a Hamb Treasure...

I've been sketching some channeled 32's lately. Possibly inspired by a build on the forum. Also my dreamrod, channeled A tudor with a Desoto hemi. IMG_20200424_113115_438.jpg IMG_20200422_204333_140.jpg 20200421_110950.jpg

Trying to entertain myself while nothing is going on. Beautiful Spring for country drives and taking photos of my cars. Hope everyone is staying safe out there.

  14. I was commissioned to make three of these panels in memory of Sparky who started the Old School Roundup at the Syracuse Nationals. This is huge honor to be making these for his family. Some of the Hobo’s Hot Rod Garage art work will be for sale at this years Syracuse Nationals in the Old School Round Up. 0A0BE694-F9E6-4FFE-AC3D-B93663AB0FA2.jpeg

    Hello,

Since I got my first ride in a 1934 Ford 5 window coupe when I was a little kid, I have always liked the style that coupe body presented. The swept back grille, the angle of the roof line and even the hood louvers. It made for a car that looked like it was going somewhere, fast. The windblown look. (not like the squarish, upright 32 coupes and sedans)

1958-59… My friend’s black 5 window Ford coupe running in A/Gas class with the big Oldsmobile motor, but still, a daily driver to high school and an after school job. (1ST Photo a copy from the web)

So, in the year that followed, any 33-34 coupes at the dragstrips, always interested me. The Drifters Club of Redondo Beach had different drag racing hot rods. The 1934 5 window chopped coupe was our favorite. The Altered Class allowed many modifications, such as the 25% motor set back, headers, body modifications, etc. One major difference between the Altered Class and the Competition Coupe Class was the position of the driver, plus the engine set back.

    1959 LIONS Drifters Coupe

“Rules allowed moving the engine back up to 25% of the wheelbase, as well as chopping and channeling. The class had few limits or requirements.”

My brother and I had a great time watching these early drag racers and they inspired us to get involved in racing and finally building a hot rod/drag racer of our own from late 1959 to mid-1960.

IMG_5437.JPG I was hoping to have this finished . I need to put details in the eye yet . The sharpie lines are just ideas . 50 spark plugs . 10 Champions, 2 DelCo and the rest Motorcraft or Ford . My SIL worked at a Ford dealership and he had the mechanics keep used plugs for him .

Once again, some more of my old art work.
COLOR stuff is old T-shirt art for our clubs annual car show. Most of it is drawn 4-color so it could be digitized for silk screen or transfer.
BLACK & WHITE stuff for Junkyard News which I co-pulished in the '80s, Also some old car show flyer art.
CARTOONS from Street Rodder Magazine...was a Contributing Artist for them in the '70s. early '80s

1364.jpg WOW! Cant remember when I last saw the "Monsanto" house. I was just a kid when we toured it at Disneyland...60's, I guess. Supposedly it was a heller to tear down.
