I had similar issues when I built our first Anglia. I decided to put the floor over the gas tank, for safety, hung from the frame. But the battery stayed in the "trunk".

Needless to say I’m a happy camper . Started to install the mock up motor and seeing how things fit .

Looking at your engine decked in the frame I'd say a little set back of the engine into the firewall would give the car better proportions, a competition vibe, better weight distribution and more oil pan / crossmember clarance. I did that on my Willys coupe.

This will be fun to watch. It will be a while before I get to my Stovebolt build, Cody.

    Nice setup

  10. Good point on set back if you could - see if you could look up Dick Bertolucci's 1935 Chevy standard coupe. It ran a GMC and was a terror on the strips in the 50's.

Well, Stogy just became unglued enough of the Main Subject to notice the 2 Posters on the wall...I Like!!:D

The larger Quarter Panel Teaser Artwork way in the beginning of the Thread had me dreaming of the rest...but what your hammering out and the Smaller ArtWorks that I just noticed round out the excitement more fully...I'm better now...:)...Great Job Hotrodder

Its looking better to me with the engine set back. You'll want to be able to remove the valve cover so allow enough clarance above it in the notched firewall which may entail putting a reinforcing hoop inside the cowl to maintain rigidity. Or maybe lower the engine some? How about moving the firewall back flush with the A-pillar/windshield plane?

You've probably thought through all of these suggestions on your own and I don't want to come off sounding like a wise ass. I'm just doing the stream-of-consciousness thing in your early build stages.

  16. The only problem being a 6 cylinder guy, is it is almost impossible to make the correct engine noise when sitting in behind the wheel during mock up.

I just make whooshing sounds - like the sound I hear when I'm blowing by one of those new-fangled V8 things in one of my 6-banger rods.

The start of boxing the frame rails and floor sections. The boxing rail plate I made out of 1/8(11gauge) and stepped both sides on the Pullmax . It was a bit of a workout trying to hold onto the piece while running it threw there but I’m happy with the results so far . As far as the floor the front section is just a piece of 11 gauge and the back is the original 32 3 window floor , which I moved forward which will now allow my seat bottom to sit 2” lower than the rail . I will stretch the pan in the near future but so far things are working out to where I’m going to be comfortable driving this thing .

I set my firewall flush with the A-pillar and the seat back against the roof. It worked for me.
    I'm 6' 6" tall.
But for a chopped three-window it may be more cramped; by all means make yourself comfortable so its fun to be in.
