As I said earlier, the comment suggested that the postal worker took something that was not his and was emphasized with an emoji, I didn’t see any joke there. I enjoy a good joke too but I still feel the post was out of line.

  3. Just saw this post and it made me laugh...just last night I was working on a buddies 68 vette and we used the mailer to cut a gasket for the fuel pump we replaced!!! A little smear of permatex and we were good to go.
Glad to learn I am not the only one that does this kind of thing.

Damn, I just heard there's no more lame humor allowed on the HAMB?!?!

So, I received #83 today. Except.... I wasn’t supposed to receive #83. I had bought a gift subscription for my dad a couple weeks back, as his birthday is at the end of this month. I was really confused when my wife handed me the envelope and my initial thought was that I had botched the order form, but a double check of my invoice email confirmed that the recipient was supposed to be my dad. Correct name, correct address, correct “Happy Birthday” message. Stranger still, mine came in the white mailer, not the brown, and the zip strip had been opened after sealing shut and the flap had been resealed with packaging tape. So, I’m not sure where things went off the logistical rails on this one, but I’ve left a voicemail and am waiting to hear back. Hopefully my issue is just a fluke and doesn’t affect all recent gift subs.

Excuse me, seebeemc, but our local hero, Dirt Cheap Jack, had more like 26 pages in TRJ 83... keep on reading until you get to the article on Dirt Cheap dropping axles!;):D:D

Dirt Cheap even got another well known local rodder, Sonny Weil (known for some time now as "Shadow"--- it seems someone noticed some time back that Sonny was always there... hence "the Shadow!") mentioned in the article.
Of course, the mention was coupled to a picture of some of Dirt Cheap's work on a car he recently sold to Shadow!;)

The car is at Shadow's now and he's continuing the build of a very well thought out car that Jack was building.

It was great to meet you, seebeemc, at Jack's meet and eat not so long ago... sure wish we could have another day like that right about now!! Plenty of neat cars, neat guys, neat gals, and neat food; including a birthday cake for Dirt Cheap! I think he had just turned 18... in his mind!:D:D

    Stay safe... and keep workin'!
    Al

Mine arrived this afternoon, Wed. 4/22/20 in a plane brown envelope with just a stamp and address sticker. The envelope was ripped wide open at the top which is strange and there was a poster inside like I have usually received at Christmas in the past. All was well inside with the mag. wrapped in the usual unopened cellophane . These times are getting stranger and stranger:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Anybody in Canada(Ontario, to be specific) get theirs? Not anxious, just want to ensure mine's not missing.

Wow, the saga continues. Another missing magazine and a empty envelope delivered.

Of course it would be in poor taste or a lame attempt at humor  to suggest that someone who doesn’t own the magazine might be reading it :D:D

When mine finally shows up in June or July, just maybe it will arrive intact :(

  19. ...I'm thinkin these brown envelopes are part to blame and maybe the postal service sorting machines don't handle them well....you can tell by the flap that this envelope wasn't sealed very well...
got my first envelope 4-20-20, notified RJ, got my 2nd envelope on 4-29-20,...so now maybe in another 9-10 days I mite finally get my issue....fingers crossed.

I'd say humour and the various attempts at it probably make up 20% of the content on the HAMB. I think you may need some lightening holes... LOL (Oops!)
