On my phone screen and when in the app it is hard to enlarge the picture. The position of the valve covers looks more straight up and down plus looks narrow..... ie a little nailheadish. After I saved the picture and enlarged it although grainy I could see the exhaust spacing but I still couldn’t see the normal head castings.

I am looking at this thread to get inspiration. I have been working on mine today. New shocks and just took the starter off. It is shot. I will get one tomorrow. Then after I get it in and put the exhaust pipe back on I will take the instrument cluster out and chase some gremlins.

Do you have a good rebuild shop in your area? Parts store starters are usually crap these days. Free replacement ain't worth a damn if you have to go thru 2 or 3 to get one that works.

Check the starter bolts for correct GM(knurled) shanks.

Our local place that did rebuilds burned. I may try to get a GM starter or a mini starter.

it does have the knurled bolts. I believe it is the original.

Enloe FWIW if your interested the part number 1107320 will be roll stamped on the armature case with a date code of the day it was manufactured. If it is original to your car the date will be shortly before the build of the car.

    I appreciate it.
I have been just lurking in the background. I hope soon to be posting more. I am hoping our annual guy trip to Bowling Green is not cancelled.
I just placed a order at Rockauto for a new AC Delco starter for my 66. I believe that it will be here around the first of the week.

That red/white '61 above is confused. With the off color painted hood, scoop and side dump exhaust I think they are trying for a racer look. But those rallye rims with rings, baby moons, and pinner whites does not scream fast to me.
Of course, it's way better than the 4x4 '41 Merc 4dr in the background .

The 62 posted by LB above I believe is Frank Dominianni's car. Pretty successful road racer from NY I believe.
