We retired to New Meadows, Idaho, built a new house in Meadowcreek subdivision. The coupe is in her new shop. The only problem is the lack of good subs in this area. Last Dec. we asked them all to leave, so we decided to finish the house ourselves. No heat, electric or finish plumbing, siding and no paint. Been real busy! The upside is the fact we saved about $100,000. Think I will be able to get back on the coupe this winter! Can’t wait! First pic is kitchen today second pic was taken the day we took over! Third is my coupe in my new shop!

Yep that’s the one. He did a good job. It has over 52K miles on it. Put over 1k miles on it in September on a Deuce Day Run.

Based on an article about the car in Rod and Custom it’s pretty much as he built it. Different wheels and tires, Bilstein shocks all around and a Moon Tank upfront. The article says he ran 12.75 in the quarter mile with it.

Gonna rain on the parade here and most likely take my lumps because of it but like the old guy Walter Breenan always said, "No lie, just fact". Fiberglass 32-34 Fords do not exist, all of them were steel. After market modern 32-34 Fiberglass are titled in the year they are registered/licensed in a lot of states. Don't know what the rules are in all states. Don't want to piss you off but then I most likely have.
My best friend who helped me with my car bought me a tee shirt with, "If it ain't steel, it ain't real". I don't ware it to shows, don't want to get punched out.

All posts here do show great looking and well made clones though, most I could get into very much.

Okay I have my Star Trek shields deployed.:eek: Look out Lar, we'er taking fire!!!!!

You know, Larry , I've had my '32 "clone" Wescott bodied roadster on the road for 15 years now about over 30k miles on it. It sits on an original frame and is hemi powered. I have had glass cars and steel cars since I started in 1962. Never ever noticed one ounce of difference in fun it glass or steel. Only the snobs supposedly can tell. It's a shame that so many people have forgotten the original motto of the NSRA. You should know the one "fun with cars!" I enjoy my cars. Outside of seating and room, I can't tell much difference between my steel 27 on deuce rails and my Wescott bodied deuce roadster. Sunshine, wind in your hair or stuck in rain, they still bring me hot rodding joy. People bitch and pick things apart way too much. Here are only two types of cars in the world, hot rods and grey four door sedans! I don't care what you call it, but if you don't have a hot rod ( steel or glass) then all you have is a sad grey four door sedan! To quote an old friend of mine "half a loaf is better than no bread all!". Just be glad you have even half a loaf and enjoy it! And pity the poor bastards that only own a grey four door sedan.

  19. Whats wrong with four door sedans....whatever color they are ? JW

I’d rather have a Tupperware HOT ROD with a beam front axle, than a steel street rod with a F’ing INDEPENDENT FRONT SUSPENSION. Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.

Just to add to the fire, when my frame was being reworked, I had it at a friend's shop. He also had a Wescott bodied deuce roadster. He wanted to have some minor changes made on the body and convinced a NCRS fiberglass specialist to look at the car. The guy showed up VERY RELUCTANTLY , because he was a "Corvette specialist". He studied Derek's roadster body very carefully, making notes of everything. When done he asked who built the body and we explained it was built in Oregon by Wescott. He said he never heard of him or his bodies. Then he went on a very detailed explanation of the construction and finish of the body. He showed us the different types and methods of fiberglass construction based on location and service it would serve. He spent quite a while detailing his findings and then made a very interesting assessment of a Wescott body. He said he had done Corvettes exclusively for years and on a scale of 1 to 10, the best Corvette he ever worked on had a quality rating of about 4, but the Wescott was a solid 10! Of course Derek and I were like monkeys looking at the back of a watch in comparing our knowledge of fiberglass construction, but we both grinned ear to ear when a guy who knew the business rated the quality of our deuce bodies. So, we came away feeling the if you want steel, it's Henry or Brookville and glass thend it's Wescott. His and mine are roughly the same age, driven the snot out of and enjoyed with no problems of deterioration evidence. Both are fun to drive and neither of us can tell what the bodies are made of while having fun.

Pretty sure I mentioned this prior but Wescott deuce roadster body number one was owned by a guy that lived across the street from a long time friend of mine, he was known to drink and then go on a rip in the car.
One time after a show he took a passenger on one of his show off escapades and ended up putting the car in a ditch, luckily both were not badly hurt but I'm sure the integrity of the Wescott body with the steel inner structure played a role in that.

  29. Mooneyes X-mas 2010 089.jpg To this day, still the best Traditional Style glass car i've seen on the HAMB. JustplainJ's Coupe. You guys sure have a loose interpretation of a Traditional car. Seeing alot of billet wheels, disc brakes, BF Goodrich radials and Streetrods. This is still the HAMB,right?
