I understand. I have seen the U shaped end of a front wishbone used on a rear bone application. Use 2 lower rubber ball cups sandwiched, and bolted to a cross member, then you can use the stock rubber wishbone ball like factory.

Thanks, that’s different. They also seem to work fine split about 6” apart also.
I will probably go that route. Or maybe get a Pete&jakes Kit

We’ve been coming into work one day a week each one of us so we’re separated, dure to COV-19
To day I showed up, and this was on my desk! My buddy has been doing a little wood work for me!
    Awesome Job! Thanks Jim!

He did such a good job, I’m gonna have him do the Small A- pillar pieces!

    Hey Dirk35
I did your method, to stretch the metal, in addition to the way I formed it on the vice last time. It turned out even better this time! The wheel well was more Swiss cheese than the last one and I’m actually filling this one quicker, I’m almost done already!
Also I can’t remember who told me about the thinner wire but I got some more.025 this time, and it works so much better than .030! Moving right along!

Great thread and work on your tudor. Mine was rust free and saved me lots of work. Yours will be really nice after getting the meatal replaced. They make nice rides.

    Thanks Guys!
So... I like to do before and after pics at the end of each section I do, in addition to the The regular documentation I do during each segment. Kind of a progress report kind of deal to make me feel better I guess. Little stepping stones to keep me motivated??
Hope you enjoy these little tidbits!

    More Done!
This aftermarket patch doesn’t fit as nice, so it needed tweaking!

Thanks! These aftermarket patch panels fit pretty good, but they are slightly off, and the back corner is a little to 90-ish, and should have a little more of a radius, so the fender and the running boards are gonna fit real tight there. but it’ll fit. I could slice and dice and pie cut the bottom in the corner but I don’t think I want to mess with all that! nobody’s going to be looking in the dark corner, once the fenders and running boards are on.
Once there are fat tires on the back and loud pipes nobody will notice!

This side is going alot quicker! Even with some fitment issues with the aftermarket market patch! I modified it a bit, you cant really see it, but the bottom corner where the fender, and running board meets the corner, was stamped a little too much 90* degree/squared off, so I cut the inside edge off, and pie cut the bottom in 3 or 4 places and hammered it in, and under, to fit my homemade inner curved piece, and BAM! Fixed it!
I formed the curved piece, in stages, to go from a wide radius at the top, to a sharp 90* at the bottom so the inside mounting flange of the fender will pull in tight to the corner, If that makes sense???

Yeah, the fender fits way better in the inside corner also! Had to much radius on the other side, I tweaked it, so it is fine. But this one is NICE! (Back Pat!)

Finish weld, Dolly and hammer the Skin patch a bit, and replace the inside cowl foot section like the driver side I did.

    YAAY! Corona Isolation!
    ( For me anyway)
Works gonna start again in a week or 2 I’m thinking.
Thats good for the out of work people

  25. I'd have that rectangular chunk of frame rail framed and on my shop wall! Don't stop now, you'll never start again! Nice work.

    Looking good!
I would steer away from any aftermarket suspension parts, just some minor corrections to what your dad did.
I would pie cut your rear radius rods and bend them towards the middle and reuse the original frame mounts in the middle.

I am also a fan of the build it like they did back in the day rather than the spend millions and never get it done. Spray bombs, brush paint, patch panels and rust converter for the win!

    Well done!

Yup! You think like me, I am probably gonna do that, I don’t really like the way they are mounted now. It won’t cost anything, take a few hours, boxing the cross member, and fabbing a cross brace with a jog around the drive shaft, probably some square tubing. Weld the existing mounts to the bottom of it.
It’s just a little old 85-90 horse Flathead, maybe 100 with the 4 barrel and electronic distributor. it’s not gonna break anything
I do like the nostalgia aspect of how my dad did it, but he did do some questionable things that I’m going to correct/improve. Even he agrees on sone of it. Thanks

    Glad your dad approves!

I especially like the old pic of the car full of irrigation pipe. Hot rods were built to be used and driven. Not hidden away and pampered.
