A quick shot of my '50 Bullet custom. I had to include a picture of the super nice chrome bullet done by Chromeplater Josh here on the HAMB. Josh filled in the Studebaker name and plated it beyond belief. Not a ripple or hiccup in the finish.

 

Anybody got amy more pictures and info on this car?
I love what I can see of it!

A fast, maybe, funny story: Somewhere in the early 80s I bought an old trailer made from the rear of a 60s Studebaker truck. It was my trash hauler, firewood getter, and overall ugly trailer.

One day I decided I didn't need it anymore so I called the local Studebaker club around Kansas City and told them. About a day later some guy pulled up with his truck and jumped out with money in his hand. I told him I would empty the thing out and delivery it tomorrow as it was filled with brush, paint cans, old shingles and other stuff.

He insisted on taking it as it sat and away he went.

I think I must have sold it too cheap.

22 almost 23 yrs. I've been messing with this old car now. Finally got the big Buick motor to hold together and it's gone 10.50 at 126 now.

 

I hadn't seen this before so I'll add mine. I started three years ago with this 53 (pictured in the avatar) since then I've added a 58 Hawk frame, SBC out of a boat, 700R4 and a 61 Hawk decklid. I have used parts off of four Studes to get this far. Hope to be driving it this coming week.

51 Starlite coupe..no engine or trans, everything else is there..almost finished with the banger,on to the next one,I guess I just dont get it,stupid is as stupid does..

 

I was talking to a guy who runs a resto shop, and he's looking at getting a Stude Skylark wagon V-8 supercharged, 4 on the floor with posi.

 

Dang.....that looks like the one my dad had and drove to work - patina and all - just like that old oil burner his was ! Pretty sure that's why my brother and I drove Stude's to high school !

 

My driver wagon has been coming along...slowly...
Made a few changes under the hood, bought a bunch of stuff to make an exhaust system, hopefully !
Shown is a 259, highly modified heads, a modified Chrysler intake manifold, Quick Fuel Carburetor, Avanti exhaust manifolds, a custom ignition that fires off of the damper ring, with a host of MSD and other parts. The fuel lines are Teflon with stainless steel braid cover.
Even has a titanium hood prop..!
Changing the dash look, maybe this weekend. Will post pictures if it works.

Going to roll the patina,buff up the baby blue..thinking 350/ turbo 350..maybe 175 horse,disc brakes...sunbrella interior..just a nice driver..

Ok, so I wouldn't call myself an official "Studebaker Guy" but I have always liked them and tried my hand at Stude stewardship - twice. I had a 327 Chevy powered '53 back in the seventies. It was yellow with primer spots when I got it but I had it painted Cordovan Brown metallic, beautiful. But every now and then it just wouldn't start. Cranked over fine, had gas, had spark, but just wouldn't start. I traded it for a '56 Chevy sedan delivery that I used as a DD for 11 years.
I got the urge for a '49-'50 Stude pickup. My old boss, Carman Pisano had one, shortened and Pontiac powered when I worked at Wedge Engineering. Loud and fast. Memories are often better than the reality..... So I found me one and put a thumpin' 454 BBC and a TH400 in it. BUT, I also put a Gibbon torsion bar front end kit on it - not good. It took me about six tries with the alignment shop to make it drivable above 35 or so mph and the power steering had no feel. I turned down the PS pressure and put a ton of caster in it and it was "ok" but I had a buddy who wanted it real bad and so I sold it. Did I mention I hated the way I fit in the driver's seat. Oh well....

When I saw these pictures I started to get that old feeling again.... I never paid any attention to '52s but I really like this one. I would be seriously tempted.

 

Here's a fun fact; I pulled an 8 3/4 rear end out of a mid-60s Fury at the local pick-n-pull (Half-off day, of course). It fit the Stude pickup like a glove. I had to oval the spring perch bolt holes a little but it bolted in and the old Stude driveshaft even bolted right up. That was the first modification I made to it and I drove it with the smoky old six w/3 spd & OD driving the 8 3/4 for a few months while I gathered parts for the BBC transplant.
