I was over at the Ford Barn and received a strong recommendation to use a 8CM cam in my flathead which will have three 97s though I may block two off, Eddie Meyer heads, Merc crank running through a '39 trans with LZ gears into a '40 rear end with a 3.78.

I was trying to decide between a EAC-a, the 8CM, and a Max 1 clone. Can anyone offer the pros and cons of each cam, some comments were that the EAC-a and the 8CM were basically the same.

I'm going to be generally cruising and the occasional highway jaunt. A little rumble at idle and good torque with decent gas mileage(if that's possible!).

Weight of vehicle is very important .If its a sedan ,just stick with a 5T cam out of a truck .

My choice would be a L100. It has alot of overlap so it needs good compression, like 8.5.

I don’t have any experience with the cams you mentioned but I really like the Isky 400jr and Winfield SU1A cams. My isky is in a T roadster in a 50merc motor, good rpm range. My Winfield is in my 32 5w but only a 221 ci ‘40 motor.

All 59A cams had 5T on them. Cars and trucks were the same. I have checked a number of V-8 cams, 8CM's are consistent. I have checked cams marked EA and EAB. Some have .330 lift (same as 8CM) and some have .300 lift. No consistency.

18620208_10213258787403691_1546483319251072525_n.jpg I run a max 1 in my 265 CID 8ba in my coupe and it runs very strong. I can actually hang with and pass the ohv cars on the dirt track!!!

I have taken the car on some 3 hour one way trips and it has nice road manners as well.
