I think the T belonged to someone else before Ray Bowles had it if Im not mistaken and at that time the headlights were mounted lower down.

  17. That T started off as a Stirling Garage conversion. Bought by Frank Pommer, it went through the hands of Hi Halfhill and his friend Claude who fitted a Riley 2-port. Raced at the lakes in the early 30's. Frank Pommer did much of the machining and bought it back. He had Frank Kurtis do the body modifications, nose, and bellypans whilst he prepared his own design four-port and OHC engine. Never finished, it passed to Chuck Shultz who fitted the 21 stud Kelseys and a few other changes. He sold it to Ray Bowles - thus the new nerf bar in the picture. It sold a few more times, lost the Kurtis nose in an accident and had a T shell for a while, before a fibreglass replica was made, before selling to somebody who bodged a fuel line repair resulting in it being burnt out. I'd have loved to see the Pommer version finished - OHC four banger with his own cast aluminium gearbox and axle centre along with all the other trick parts he made for it.

Thank you hotrodfil! Always great to read the history of a car, kind of special since it is coming from across the pond. So the remains of the car are still out there, that is good news. Bob

I always like hearing the connections of these Stylists/Fabricator's involved with Hotrod when they are known more for other segments of the Picture such as Race and Custom work...

Kurtis was an interesting talent indeed...but it certainly is safe to say whatever he put his hands to quality was highly evident...thanks for the expanding of this Hotrods evolution @hotrodfil

I was thinking they're Indian Motorcycle but being Frank Kurtis was involved he could have fabbed them from the originals or unskirted Cycle Fenders..
