A note to TRJ readers here on the H.A.M.B.:

We know you’ve been waiting much longer than usual to receive your new issue, and I apologize for this delay. While we appreciate most subscribers’ patience, we also completely understand the frustration surrounding all this. We wanted to give you an update, and to assure you that we are doing everything in our power to get TRJ #83 to you as soon as possible.

The magazine has been printed and bound for weeks, and advance copies—the small number of copies mailed directly from us to contributors, advertisers and those whose cars are featured in the issue—have already been mailed. Subscriber copies, however, were en route to our mailing house in Northern California when they had to be re-routed back to the printer because the mailing house is under the state’s mandated closure due to COVID-19.

This is an unfortunate situation. If there’s a bright side, it’s that we were able to re-route the magazines before they were stranded at the mailing house. (We wish we could say the same for our mailing envelopes, which will be stuck in their warehouse for the foreseeable future.) We are currently coordinating with an alternate mailing house and with the trucking company that will be delivering the magazines to them.

We regret that issue #83 has taken so long to get to you. We take responsibility for the delay. Bringing TRJ’s printing back from Hong Kong to the United States as well as our cross-country relocation have proven to be good business decisions. However, doing both within the same year, and essentially restructuring our entire supply chain in the process, was more challenging than we anticipated. This has now been compounded by the aforementioned Coronavirus-related shipping complications.

All of that said, we have been hard at work both dealing with the logistical hurdles we’ve encountered getting #83 to subscribers while also working on issue #84 so that we can return to our regular quarterly schedule.

We sincerely appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience. We will update you as soon as we have new information. Thank you, as always, for your support.

    Sincerely,
    Steve Coonan

No biggie. If this is the biggest inconvenience I'm going to have this month, I'm good with it.

Considering everything else going on the wait is no big deal. I for one appreciate the update. Now this gives me more time to get back to work on the race car. Speedweek is going to get here before we know it.

Thanks for the info! Just got my new Speed and Kulture and have a place on my bedside table reserved for #83. Reading up on Civil War history right now, but I will be done with that shortly. Thanks for the Great automobilia, Carp.

Thanks for the update. Worth the wait and really nice to have a vendor be upfront and honest about the problems.

In what's going on today I can understand it. The post office I use has been closed for a week, every employee has the virus.

  23. Ohhhh I can’t wait...I do know the mails running slower..I bought some stuff from a person here...from Wisconsin, he shipped on the 2nd and I still don’t have it..tracking info says “in process”.. I have a feeling they’re working with less people, safety measures impacting productivity, etc..

I’m house bound and I really need my issue but I’m waiting and understand what is happening now.

This thing we’re dealing with will eventually pass and hopefully life can get back to normal.

I for one will never accept this as ,
    “The new normal “
As they seem inclined to label it.
