THE EAGLES “TAKE IT EASY”



Hello,

Having grown up listening to music, this song by The Eagles must be a most memorable one for hot rod people. “Standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona…”etc. On last road trip to the OKC, my wife and I just happen to blast by the corner in Winslow as if it was a street corner in any city of the USA.

Once we got to Albuquerque on Highway 40, did we tell each other what we missed after listening to “The Eagles” on a CD. Then from that point on, that song would not go away in our minds. Maybe that was a curse for not stopping in Winslow, Arizona and taking a road trip photo.

The significance was not apparent, as we were mapping out our trip to OKC and what to see there. But, that repetitive song just stuck in our brains until we hit Roswell and then Amarillo. That gave us a different outlook to the Southwest.

It has been noted that the line “It's a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed Ford slowing down to take a look at me…” the has been misused plenty of times by many people. A Flathead Ford, instead of a flatbed Ford is the most common mistake. Sometimes it just sounds better.

ps if even if you aren't a huge fan, ZZ Top released a great doco last year " That little ol Band from Texas" which is a fantastic look back in time, music and culture from the 50's forward.

I remember when all of those town were still alive. The neon at night was the neatest thing this little Texas farm boy had ever seen. Route 66 made them and I 40 killed them.

And I think that goat is in a Chevy but then the song doesn't work.
"It's a goat making a privy off my flat bed Chevy."
