Didn't get there until Feb. of '64. Split '62 between finishing Jr. year in California and starting Sr. year in Hawaii.

I was sitting on the steps leading to our driveway. Across the street sat this kool coupe.[IMG]yeah it was 62, I was 12 years old and I remember dreaming of this Coupe. Finally in May 2016 I got the opportunity to buy it[IMG][IMG]it sees, the light of day after being put in hibernation in 2004. One of the best cars I’ve owned. And definitely fun to drive. And yes I’ll be 7-0 soon. Just a kid trapped in an older body and lovin every minute of it.

I had a 53 F100 with a warmed over 292 and a 33 five window project that ran off and on. I took a summer job with a small private school group that went from Socal to the World Fair in Seattle. I drove the 53 and hauled camping gear. The were four cars on the trip but the only one I remember was a 55 four door Chev wagon with a 6. It was my first trip to the PNW and we had a great time. I do remember that on Sunday all the stores were closed. Couldn't even get a carton of milk. I wish I could go back to those times and live on my 1.25 an hour job. Got through the summer and headed back to Utah. Come October I thought I was going to be drafted and fighting commies in Cuba. Thinking about that trip brings back some good memories of a simpler life.

Freshman in high school. Folks still had the white over maroon 1953 Desoto 4-door, from new. Later they moved up to a light metallic green 63 Tempest slant 4, auto, also with 4 doors. That's how my exciting life of cars started. Later, I won a Yamaha 80cc dirt bike in one of the Revell-Testor's model car contests. My first wheels! No payments! Still slow!
