Dave Mcgee.jpg dixie with skirts.JPG I was chatting with my FB friend Dave McGee, talking about how Dixie did not look right with skirts! It needed to be lower in the rear, we both agreed! Dave fixed that problem with a rear suspension drop that will certainly designate Dixie as a taildragger. He also chopped the top substantially! I have never even fantasized about a chop on the multi-windowed fordor. But I really like it! The cost/work involved in such an endeavor makes me shudder! He might have pulled the bumpers in a bit, a project on the want-to-do list!

This was my 1st car in 1966, traded it in 1968 straight up for a '59 Corvette. Always wished i had it back and after 52 yrs tracked it down and was able to buy it back! IMG_1588.jpg

  6. I love a good home coming story. You were lucky.
But.......what about the Vette? Still got it? It would be worth considerably more than the '46 is now.

56don, I do not have the '59 Corvette. Sold it when i was in the service and bought a '66 with a 425 HP 427 tri-power while I was doing AIT in Ft. Sill OK. I do have a '61 with ZZ4 and tune port injection now that I traded a friend of mine a'27 Model T Roadster PU for. I have since bought the '27 back.

  8. Great to see you could get it back, congrats.:)

What a great looking foundation! The finished car should really be a sight to behold.

IMG_3258.JPG IMG_3258.JPG I was wondering if anyone recognized this car and if they knew who built it. I think its from Michigan.

  14. Hauled my '47 up to the other garage a couple weeks ago; going to see if I remember where stuff goes and can get it to go together again. Found the driveshaft yoke leaks when I filled the trans.

Even though it’s got some nice patina on the black paint that is not the original color. The interior is in decent shape too. Bill has some plans to tidy up the interior exhaust and a few other little details. She runs fantastic.
I love all the art deco touches in the style despite the fact that the car is from the 40s not the 30s. The story is the car came from Fort Myers before the other guy got it. I have a feeling the car was stored in a garage for a long time and taken care of in it’s formative years.
