What are these; or where did they come from. I've never seen them before.

Custom made 460 covers. Made from three covers. 1957 Lincoln, Ford fe and 460 base. image.jpeg image.jpeg

  8. Louie I'm thinking of the same thing for the 390 FE in my 1948 Lincoln Continental. I've got the Loncoln VC's an many-many FE VC's. Any advice on mating them? PM me ,

Might as well resurrect an old thread and keep adding to the eye candy. This is how I decorated around the big screen in my shop..... covers.jpg .

  16. I haven't bought to many recently but a few

Some older ones I didn't picture before, these had Offenhauser breathers on one side and little Moon style on the other side. I moved those around to other valve covers and found the kinda hard to find long chrome ones with the sharp edge.

I have the pieces to make up a set like these

    20190322_230121.jpg

I like how these are painted and I do have a set of Weiand small blocks I haven't pictured

I found these for sale for $900, going rate for them but hard to justify that kind of bread for something that I'm not sure I have the car for them to blend with.

Seen these at a swap meet, Stellings Hellings breathers at an angle, my set are straight.

LOTS of really cool valve covers, and a few other things posted here. IF, I could post photos, I'd show off a pair of "SBC" valve covers GIVEN to me by one of our Canadian HAMBER'S. I believe they are 55-57 Canadian Pontiac valve covers, embossed with "PONTIAC" in block letters, instead of CHEVROLET script. I've only seen one other pair of these, and they were on an engine in a 55 Canadian Pontiac Sedan Delivery. I do plan on using them on one of my 265 or 283 engines, just for the novelty of them. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

D27E2FAA-E34A-4F22-BCD2-C15112301F6B.jpeg I was looking for a set of 60’s 327 valve covers a couple years ago. Found a set on Craigslist up in Spokane. Called the guy, made the deal. When they arrived, they were securely boxed up. Inside I even found the original hold down hardware! They were originals off his 62’Corvette. Later I found out that 62’was the only year they made that version, different around the logo area. So I guess they are somewhat rare. Put them on my coupe!

    Hello,

We all know the history of @DeanLowe’s red RPU from the Hot Rod Magazine cover in 1962. Our strong interest in those RPU vehicles back then always stayed in our minds during our photographic journalist days, too. Those roadster pickups were always the first hot rods we would gravitate to, in any early car show, hot rod picnic or local events.
    upload_2020-4-25_4-20-47.png
This yellow/black RPU was shown to us at a local show event. We got involved in some heavy information exchange and within a week, we were back in Santa Barbara to photograph this immaculate RPU in it natural setting.
    upload_2020-4-25_4-21-19.png
Nick Macaluso was a fanatic hot rod builder/owner and his hot rods were always finished with the classy looks. It was his everyday ride in the Santa Barbara /Goleta area as his business was located near the Goleta airport. The area also included a place called Project Design in Goleta. That company was owned and run by Sam Foose. A lot of the RPU was built in that shop, just down the industrial complex. Also, in that same complex was an upholstery shop called “Big Hearted Ken’s.”

Together, they had a big hand in finishing this RPU. When we opened the hood after setting up the photo shoot near a local lake/park, the valve covers were the ones that stood out. Normally, the aluminum fins would be glistening and or have a satin sheen. But, this SBC motor had black valve covers to go along with the yellow and black theme on the RPU. The contrast was not lost on this photographer/writer.

On the way home from the photo shoot, my wife asked what it would take for us to get one of these RPU hot rods… We were on to something back then… Well, it was a convertible of sorts. We also, all know the theory of girls/women and their liking of convertible cars…
