That's good. I was thinking what a job it would be to return the Tucker to stock! First Tucker I ever saw was on display at Sutros at Cliff House on top of oceanside cliff Pacific Coast Highway, South of San Francisco. Few years later building burned. I don't know if Tucker was there at time of fire or not.

There is one Tucker CON-vertible that was pieced together and then an attempt was made to pass it off as a prototype. Entertaining read if you get bored.

 

It wasn't; no account of one of the 4 that have 'passed' fits that end.
The Tucker convertible is a irksome story. The attempts to pass it as a factory job, while modern-day color photos of the fabricating of the body were out there. Frankly, cutting that gorgeous teardrop roofline off a Tucker to replace it with a lumpy bunch of fabric is a detestable high crime against history AND beauty. Then again; I've never understood the high desirability of convertibles anyway.

I’m guessing you have never owned one. This is the first time there has not been one in our family other than under a roll cage in our LSR roadster.

 

Driven a handful, but I'm a design-oriented guy- fabric roofs (up or down) look like crap. At least something like a '50s Eldorado had a color-matched fiberglass boot to cover the retracted top. Give me a Seville anyday :
