    Hello,

We have always liked 1957 Plymouth Sedans with those cool looking fins. The Hot Rod Magazine coverage in racing with their own 57 Plymouth started it all. But, for some reason, those Plymouth Sedans were not the car of choice for our group of teenagers. Jump up many years later and the idea of women liking convertibles was brought to light. My wife has always liked convertibles. Her mom bought a 1947 Buick Convertible back in 1950, when their family lived in hot, inland Encino, CA.

In the So Cal surf circles, Even Kathy Kohner… the real life “Gidget” had a Buick convertible for her well known road trips (and lifestyle) to the beach at Malibu.

My wife has always wanted a convertible for one of our daily transportation vehicles. So, when we started watching the Amazon Studios’ Marvelous, Mrs. Maisel on the streaming channel, it brought back many memories of those early convertible days with her mom.

In the show, Mrs. Maisel goes from her place to upstate New York for a holiday and then gets a drive home in a pristine red Plymouth Convertible. When my wife saw that, she said…wouldn’t it be nice to get a convertible for one of our two cars? Our granddaughter would flip over and jump right inside. What is it with girls/women and convertibles?

The Mrs. Maisel scenes just made convertible driving look so attractive with the color contrast, the woods, the weather and the empty roads, etc.

With the restricted times upon us, those drives in the country side or coastal drives that we all took are just memories. Once everything gets settled, our lives will return to a fairly normal lifestyle. So, stay safe and get your convertible “kicks for Route 66” by watching, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” on the Amazon Prime streaming station.
