How much interest is there in having a skilled machinist make a run of shifter rails for 1937 Cad Lasalle top shift transmissions? Properly heat treated etc. This is the main missing link I've run into so far for swapping guts from 38 and later to the 37. Forks seem to mostly available. Help is needed with this Hambers: A set of drawings or original shafts in any condition to copy.
You maybe want to find the range of years this fits for Cadillacs and Lasalles. And head on over to the Cadillac and Lasalle clubs forum, ask them also. May be a bigger opportunity for you. Also try the Aaca.org club forum also.
The 37 LaSalle floor shift is a one year only transmission as far as the shifter components. 38 and later is side (column) shift with a completely different mechanism for shifting. Later gears are compatible in the 37 with case modification. Anybody familiar with the differences in 39 and earlier vs 40 and later Ford 3 speeds will know what I mean. If you are interested in a set let me know, I'm trying to get an idea of how many to have made.
That's what I'm hoping. I won't expect a commitment until I find the price. This is a not-for-profit HAMB coop deal so it should be cheap. Can't say the same for any sets that show up on ePay at a later date though
I would be interested in a pair. I have an empty case. And several side shifts for parts. But those rails are hard to come by. Thanks
Take note that the top shiftcase has a smaller counter shaft so it will have to be bored for the side shift counter shaft and gear.
