Being stuck at home has given me lots of time to work on the Shaker and get some garage organizing done, but as this thing drags on ,I dont know when we will race again, so here are some shots from last season running our nostalgia altered the Hilltown Shaker, thanks Todd Dziadosz for the great shots
Great post, l haven’t raced in 20 years, but the bug never goes away. I can see that you are running my favorite Small Block Chevrolet, what are the details on the engine? How fast is it? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Engine is a stroked 423 cu in injected on alcohol, 15 to 1 compression, we run a best of 9.41 at 138mph , we intentionly keep it around there to keep costs and maintenance to a minimum. it make loads of torque, we leave from an idle ,no transbrake and it runs 1.30 60 foot times . It is just a fun car project i built with my son as a father son project, it took us 3 years to build . we race local nostalgia races in PA MD and NJ
Last time I raced was the last day Capitol Raceway was open. Was the fastest my car ever ran. Was really a good/bad day!
1991 Wilmot Wisconsin, my last year in open wheel racing as a competitor, started 1970 in Midgets, a Great 21 year adventure
Sounds similar to the sprint car engines from my time frame 87/91 in sprint cars, a good one would dyno at around 700/720 HP now the tell me they are at 900 HP. 1991 around 20K depending on builder now 50K plus, as always, "Speed Costs Money, How Fast Do You Want To Go"
Hello, We had fun building our 1940 Willys Coupe for the B/gas class at Lions Dragstrip. It took over 4 months to get the Willys running with a 6 Stromberg carb powered 283 SBC motor and LaSalle transmission. It was competitive, but kept getting the taillight views in the eliminations. So, after several months, we tore down the 283, and decided to go bigger, but with the added power of a 671 supercharger. Our goal was to be in the C/Gas coupe class, even with a 671 supercharger for added horsepower. The SBC was increased to 292 C.I. and everything was blower spec approved, new Howard Cam + Kit, Jahns Pistons, aluminum rods,Joe Hunt Vertex Magneto, and a reworked Reath Crank. Together, they made the Willys Coupe so much faster. We welded in some steel plates in the trunk to shore up the frame. The added weight also made up for having a supercharged motor. Each time we drove the Willys, we got better times and speeds, closer to the national record for C/Gas. Now, the goal was reachable. Jnaki The results have been posted back in the HAMB for 2016 as we took on what life has to offer. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...se-questions-too.1169034/page-6#post-13335298 1940 Willys August 13 1960 Months after the accident, everything was posted and sold, except for the tool box, Bruce Slicks and the hydraulic jack.
