Any scuttlebutt on Back to the Fifties still going to happen this year ??? Just curious as so many things are being shut down.. That would be a disaster...
can always reserve a room online, that way if it happens you are set - if canceled can always change reservation
I haven't missed this show in 25 years but I'm not sure if I will go this year even if they do run it. Many of the participants are of the age most vulnerable to the disease including me.
They're talking about canceling the MN state fair, which is in late August and ends on Labor Day. Given that, I'd be surprised if the 50s takes place at the state fairgrounds in Mid-June. The latest from the state is that they think the virus might not peak here until Mid-May. I've gone to the 50s for at least 20 years either as a spectator or participant, but not this year. We're in our 70s and it's just to much risk.
I wonder if holding or canceling the show is just up to the MSRA, or if the fairgrounds cancel the show? Time will tell I guess.
The Fairgrounds management cancelled the GSTA show according to the cancellation notice on the GSTA Facebook page. I will be shocked if the 50's goes on as planned...
It's not going to happen this year. My girlfriend works at a local hospital in management and they are saying this is going to last all summer. And get much worse before it gets better. This will be the summer that never was. No car shows, meets, cruises, etc. All we will be able to do is drive our cars to the store and back.
I have been going every year since 1992. Was looking forward to 2020 . I have a feeling with an event of this magnitude and the financial impact on the area and business's and groups it benefits it will be a last minute decision. Maybe first Part of May or so. Just my thoughts. Our group is in the late 50's to mid 70's age group so it may not happen for us either way. Larry
