Hot Rods 60 Kingswood resto

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by BSL409, Mar 14, 2020.

  1. What some call "restoration" is really anything but one - usually there's some liberties taken for personal taste, budget constraints or lack of proper original parts. Let's see where this goes - a build thread is still fun to follow.

Hope this qualifies it as a hot rod for some!

    Huh????.....

  6. If it’s not a 32 Ford, it’s not a hot rod and doesn’t belong on this site:rolleyes:

  11. I noticed this is not posted in the traditional hot rod or traditional custom car forum rather he chose to post the thread in the hokey ass message board where cars that are not period perfect are welcome, 90% of the cars on the hamb get posted in this section.

And from what I read most members are interested to see this build.

    Nor do I.

  12. There is absolutely nothing off topic about a 60 Chevy, I believe all this social distancing and self quarantining is starting to get to all of us, hopefully this new reality will be a bad dream in a few more months.

    My thought exactly.

This statement is about as ridicules as the one about the wagon restoration not belonging here.

As one wagon owner to another I'm looking forward to the build. HRP

  15. Terrific weight transfer can be achieved with a wagon.

That 60 Chevy wagon is very cool, I wonder if the complainer would think any less of a 57 Buick Cabellero if it was posted rather than the Chevy? Point being, it has class and it has potential, and it will be a great build IMHO.

That's the way to do it BSL. I almost had a chance on getting a clutch pedal set-up for my 65 Olds full size, the guy wouldn't sell it. I grew up around a garage that was owned by a used car lot, long story short it was 1962/63 and I remember my friend test driving and me riding along in a 4spd 421 catalina or an abundance of 4spd. 409 and 4spd galaxies. Those were the days that shaped my early hot rod love.

  19. So, manyoldcars, I'm curious how a very stock looking model a, such as in your avatar, qualifies?

Love the Chevy wagon build and kudos to you for your engine choice! I dig that body style!
The complainers need to keep their opinions to themselves. How can a '60 wagon with a hopped up 348 and a 4-speed not be considered a hot rod?

Buick made those 4 door hardtop wagons in 57 & 58 only.

That block looks brandnew! I ´d love to build one of those W-motors someday. A friend has a very nice std bore 409 minus heads and intake...
it has low miles and came out of a fresh water boat. But he won´t sell it to me.I´ve been begging him for 10 years.

BSL409, thanks for posting your 60 Chevy Wagon project. No way a "W" powered 4 speed car is not a Traditional Hot Rod. I'll be following your progress.
Wagons are hot and have been for the last 6-8 years. I took my 62 Impala Wagon to the NSRA Nats in Louisville to sell about 5 years ago and the interest in it was amazing. It sold almost immediately. I wish I had about five more of them as I believe they would have sold as well.
