mick, you are right...I went back and checked my notes...the car did go to John Moxley after the SoCal accident, thanks! I corrected my earlier version.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post this remarkable collection. I wish I could have known Phyllis, woman after my own heart. I grew up in the 50’s & 60’s (in El Paso), and I have always loved racing. My parents wound never give me permission to go watch racing with my brother. One day I will get to Bonneville. But I’m happy to say I did eventually drive a NFC. My parents would have never approved lol.

@beegator, love your comments about Phyllis. It's never too late to get out and experience the racing world. Put Bonneville on your bucket list! The only time I saw racing as a kid was when my big brother returned from Vietnam on leave and took me to a 1/2 mile dirt track in Superior, WI. I was hooked!

I did miss a couple of non racing pictures from the collection that need to be put up. Gary Lindsley's mid 60's A roadster show & Street rod. He still has some incredible looking street rods.

I agree with Marty Strode, best thread on the HAMB right now. I (along with Jimmy Barter) am an administrator on "Pre-'55 Hot Rods" on FaceBook. May I post a few of these pictures on it, with credit to you and the Lindsley family?

Thought I would bump this up one time for anyone that may have missed it the first go around. I just added some of the comments identifying various cars in the proper pictures, thanks to input from @JimmyB, @296ardun and others - thanks for the help on this. Now, to get my hands on more pictures.....

Thanks for all of the great pictures and history. From all of the smiles shown in the scenes, it sure looks like they were having fun and enjoyed their buddies and family.

This was identified earlier as the Moll Hale "34 coupe. The car you show looks like it has the same chop, but different nose and side panels....or a later version of the same car?

Thank you for taking the time to share these photos and memories, it has been a great read.

Quick note, that is a 1970 Plymouth Superbird, and not a Daytona. The Lindsley family was given a pair of brand new Superbirds by Chrysler. They were nearly identical Alpine White Hemi Superbirds, but one had a four-speed and the other a Torqueflite automatic. They found the auto to have a higher top speed! So they kept that one for racing, and the four-speed car was used as transportation by the team. Here is another pic of the racer. Note the white door jamb.

I remember the bird in the 70’s. When I met Jim that’s what the family ran. Burned once on the trailer in the way back home from Bonneville. They saved it to run again...I think it had a KB Hemi in it for a while...J. D.

Yep - tow vehicle caught fire and damaged the Superbird. From the family photo collection...

Thats a shame. I wonder what happened...I know that if the truck had a 440 they ran the Thermoquads and they were prone to catching fire

Look how nonchalant they are, chatting while their tow rig is engulfed in flames.
