Beautiful work. Never saw a car with the trunklid stretched instead of the tulip panel between the lid and the rear window, that is a nice touch. Even the template for the glass is very well made.

That red hot rod model A is also a car we have built. Maybe I must do a thread on that too?

    Please do...

If it is truly Pre 1965 traditional...Start Thread it in Traditional Hotrod Forum

If it has any Post 1965 additions like say disc brakes, coilovers, etc...Start Thread it in Hokey Ass Forum

Regardless it has the Vintage Spirit from what I can see from this vantage point in Canada...:D

The post was modified with sheet metal. I think Simon did som cuts in the post and maked the angle right that way, then welded it together again.

The side windshield was chopped and welded together to. Then we sent it to chrome. We can still opening it.

All trim around the windshields in/out are stainless steel. It was a big job cutting all the pices and making them fit.

The roof is choped 3" in the back and 2 3/4 " in the front.

  12. Wow, just, wow. My father owned a 1954 Mercury Monterrey when I was a kid. Lovely shade of Butternut Yellow.

  13. Very nice work. Your car is a good example for small changes make a better end result. I really like lengthening the trunk lid, the result is nicer than making the panel between the rear window and trunk lid longer.
Congratulations on a car well done! Did you do anything to the engine and transmission? What about other pictures of the interior?

  14. Rod and custom, best of both worlds. Nice work.

Love it! But then I had a 53 Ford Victoria, so I know what a great car these are. I drove mine in the snow too.

After we built the Mercury we drove it one summer with the engine untouched, but it leaked and took so much oil that we had to do a renovation the next winter. DSCN8146.JPG

It is the original Y-block 256 with merc-o-matic. We renovated the engine and cleaned up, painted under the hood. We also did a renovation on the front axle suspension.

We cleaned up the interior. The door panels and seats are original. We bought a new carpet and inner roof. 20200401_145908.jpg 20200401_145916.jpg

In the trunk there was nothing left when we bought the car. So we made a new upholstery ourself. The old travelbag is working as a toolbox. 20200401_150022.jpg

When I showed my wife the pic of your Merc she asked if "I would consider selling my car and get this one?" Lol I told her we'd be way short honey.

Absolutely beautiful Merc! Exceptional skill and a great eye for design.
