Ok.....in the post I made about the update on the chemical city coupe, some have noticed my 63 impala in the background. So here us a little back story....the year before last, dad retired, he seen the 63 forsale in the autofinder...he bought it. Long story short, the car was neglected and the gentleman who built the car has passed away. So all we knew is that it was a 425hp 409 4 speed impala that was made in the late 80s early 90s. What clues us in that it's not genuine is that it's an a.c. car. A.c. didn't come with the big motor. Fast forward to that fall, dad had seen how I was looking at the car and how much I enjoyed the car, turned it over to me. He bought the coupe in the meantime. So now, the car in question is now mine, the 409 has been pulled for a complete rebuild with good rods, custom pistons, solid roller cam, cleaned up stock heads, cleaned up stock intake, stahl/acp fenderwell headers, an autogear m22 4 speed, and a 9 inch rear from quick performance that's equipped with a 4.56 gear. And yes I plan on driving the snot out of it as well as race it some. Here are some pictures of the car. Hope you all enjoy. And any questions, please ask away.
Great looking car. Growing up my neighbor had a 63 Impala SS with a 327/300 and 4-speed. I always liked the factory tach in those cars that mounted on the center of the dash right over the steering column.
Damn, that is one wicked '63. Thanks for posting those. You're making me regret selling my old Impala even more. lol
Thank you guys for the comments. Im trying to keep it as period correct as possible as to what the ultimate 63 409 impala in the 60s would be
Here are some more pictures of the car. The picture with the supreme wheels is the day it became a member of the family.
As you say, not born that way. You should be very proud, all those parts will make a very tough 63' 409 Impala. Well done.
That car is definitely on point, in every category. You're doing exactly my vision of how I'd love to do an X-frame someday.... Giddy-up!
Nice looking car, when I bought my 62 09 car it had a 456 posi and I soon changed it to a 336 so I could drive it at a normal road speed. Good luck with you build.
@halfsack we’ve got a mutual friend, Mike Penrose. I live about 10 miles west of Westville off of rt6, when all this chaos is over I’d love to check out your cars.
Solid roller cam, there's the heart of badassery right there! Love the rear end with all the aluminum trim.
I had stage 4 advanced testicular cancer when I was 18. I'm 41 going on 42 now. I was part of a clinical study.
Nice looking car, you should hook up with some of the 348-409 eliminators at a track, that's if and when racing will happen.
...Sorry I brought it up. Even more sorry that you had to endure that. You're a brave soul. Wishing you much good health going forward......Don.
