Wouldn't it be neat that along with all the other millions of tax dollars spent on city parks and sports venues each state would create vintage tin parks with a lot of this stuff arranged in neat rows that we could visit and ooh and aah over instead of demanding that it be crushed? After all old cars are just as much of the American story as old buildings and sites!!

  4. That Vette may be the end result of a stolen and stripped car, then the remains hidden in the woods. There is a canyon near where I used to live that was full of stolen muscle cars that were stripped of the good parts and pushed over the cliff. It was cleaned out a few years back by using helicopters.

I don’t think that’s Mercury trim on the 53 Special. Unless you’re seeing something else.

  10. This 37 coupe has been sitting at least since 2008. Denny says he wants $2500 for it. Original frame is under it but it's really rusty. There's another full frame under the original frame! It's a lot better. sorc15_37forddennyconnor.jpg

  11. The body on that '37 coupe looks more solid than most you find sitting outside. The frames on '35-'40 cars were bad to rust out where the back legs of the X member meet the side rails just in front of the arch over the rear axle. If you use the other frame, you'll probably have to register the car by the serial number on that frame even if it's a different year frame. Friend of mine has a '27 Model T roadster pickup built from the front half of a touring car he pulled out of a ravine. He mounted it on a '29 Model A frame. Had to register it as a '29 (this is in Alabama) because that was the only serial number on the car--Ford didn't put the serial number on the body back then.

Wow...a four door with a connie kit. Notice the black 57 Ford to the right of the white Merc. I've seen some 57's with large bumpers like that, and some with smaller (shorter) bumpers. What gives? I like the smaller ones better.

I never cared for the look of the Continental kit bumpers, they always looked just tacked on.
However, now that we are in the cell phone distracted driver age I am reconsidering that opinion.

  27. The larger Fairlane 500s had the bigger bumpers. The smaller Custom 300s had the smaller bumpers.
